Suggestions on how to get this straight?

Some time back I asked for suggestions on which boat I should look to purchase. Lots of advice with many good suggestion's. I ended up purchasing an old Limd Ducker and thought I would give this one a go with a nice homebuilt longtail to power it. Boat was a good deal and almost perfect. I needed another project and this will do.

One thing I've tried to fix without much luck is one dent in the transom. Not a big deal to just throw some new wood in there and paint it but I would really like to get this straight. Tried pounding with a rubber mallet with not luck. I have a heavier steel mallet but don't want to be banging on this too hard and then loosen rivets. Suggestions?

The metal has been stretched a bit so you may never get it completely straight. A gentle way to take some bend out is to clamp it to a 4x4, straighten it as much as you can with the clamps.. Then give it a few taps with your mallet, with a block of wood in between.

Have someone cut it out and weld a new piece in.

You could also just put a piece of larger aluminum channel or aluminum channel over it to hide it. If you ran it full width of the transom, it think it would look great.
