As you can clearly see from this photo the game bags were full!!

Actually it was a nice morning to get out. The leaves are turning we had a nice rain last night so I decided to take advantage of the cool morning and run to the farm and see if anyone had shown up. 3 flushes in about an hour by myself (no dog) I did manage to scare this one. If anyone needs a virturally untouched woodcock skin let me know. I'm on the wing bee for woodcock so if not it's getting sent to the feds.

the shot of the birds on the ground reminds me of that graphics aretist guy that does the pictures where if you look at it one way its fish and the other its birds.....I keep looking at the one with all the Woodcock expecting it to turn into something and it does.....WOOD....ahh the power of the photograph......

Let me know if you have time for a guest...

Steve

I wouldn't say 3 flushes in an hour are worth flying halfway across the country for but, I can only hope we're only a cold front or two away from more showing up. Give me a buzz on the cell if you get a chance.

I actually believed you when you said the first photo was "unretouched"....(you have a hand in that deer picture too?).....I'll admit that I thought "WOW, look how nice he managed to keep all 12 birds, and then asked myself, jealously I'll add, "who were the other guys on the hunt", but beyond that my mind was so full of the thoughts of the woods full of woodcock that I was blinded by the obvious duplicaton of the birds......have I called you a BASSSSSTTTAAAAARRRRRDDDDD yet?

I'll give you a shout this afternoon....

Best,

Steve

Mark,

Thanks for the pics. I haven't headed out for woodcock yet this year. It has been pretty dry around here so I'm not sure what I'll find. Nothing like hutning tight holding birds with a good dog.

Tom

I tried to make it as obvious as I could knowing that you were the president of the doubters club. Wasn't it just a little odd that every bird was in excatly the same position???hahahahahahahaha

Heck I did a way better job on the Bigfoot walking in the background though the trailcam pic.hehehehehehe

That wasn't even done in photoshop that was just good ol' MS Paint. hehehehehehe

in retrospect but posting Woodcock like that is, to me, like walking down the street and having the best looking woman on the street smile, and wave at me......If I analyze it then I'll know enough to turn and look for the guy that she's really smiling and waving at...if I let my imagination carry me away then I can believe that the Babe is really waving and smiling at me, and that the picture was real.......

Which explains why I bought this one, (who could resist all those cute little butts stuck up in the air?)--obviously I'm a pure pushover for Woodcock---but didn't buy the Big Foot one....who wants a Bigfoot to smile and wave at you?....

Have I mentioned that you're a "BAAAAAASSSSTTTTTTTAAAAARRRRRRDDDDDD"!!!!

Steve

Managed to get out with the dog for the first time this seasons on Sunday afternoon. I ran lucky through a couple of pieces of cover that are usually good for at least a dozen flushes. Managed a weak point on some old scent and that was it. They're either not here yet or I missed them.

Haha... Mark....

Looks like you got yourself into some woodcocks (by some i mean- one?) =)

I flushed one the other day after it rained but only had my bow with me, and didn't want to lose an arrow!

How's the deer situation on your farm? I'm hunting some private land over here in Illinois this fall, and seen some nice bucks. Gonna try to arrow a deer this year instead of using a gun.

Keep practicing those photoshop skills!

I'm not sure Sutton even hunts Woodcock. He's had a standing invite out here for years
and the SOB hasnt showed yet.

They are a bunch a fun with a pointing dog arent they? They havent showed real heavy here
yet but I've managed to scrape a couple.

Had a nice point last night, my 12 year old backed by my 2 year old backed by my brothers
year old pup. No pressure there to connect. They wouldn't have spoken to me for a week
if I missed.
