Went on my 3rd swan hunt this year. You can shoot one/year in NC if you get a permit. Step one was painting some decoys. I used some super-mega-magnum goose decoys. Easiest paint job I've ever had to do. We got 3 swans one for each of us in the blind. The tundra swan I got was the largest I've ever shot. The best and most rewarding part was showing them to my Poppop at the rest home. He absolutely loved it.

Had one with a group of geese this past weekend. Flying right with them into the decoys. Awesome to see one close. John

Thanks guys I agree. A unique oppurtunity was only made better by sharing it with my gandfather.
 
Great photos! Those things are huge! What do you use to bring them down with?.....a 50 cal or anti aircraft?

Ben, thanks for that story and those pictures. I really enjoyed seeing poppop by the swans. That was a heart-warming shot. Had no idea they were that huge.

Nice shooting Ben and great pics. I drew a tag here in VA this year but the only chance Ive had to kill one was the day before the season came in on them. We saw right many Monday so my hopes are still high. Just need to find that loner that doesnt have reservations elsewhere already.

I love painting swans...someday I'd like to drop one over my own deeks...have had several toll in over them, both trumpeters and those damn invasive mutes. Thanks for sharing.

Andrew...have decoys, can travel... Of course with Wisconsin's stupid open water blind laws the body booting sillys would likel be illegal. I wish Michigan would open up a hunt for them.

You will be the first to know as long as a stitched one stays behind ;). As long as we are standing on the lake bottom we would be legal
