TDB under new ownership

I agree on the blind needing to be addressed. I never could understand why they wouldnt make it straight up,not tapered inwards.
Great boat though.... also just my 2cents.... All the best with company Tony

This isn't bashing, so please don't take it as such... There is a guy on this sight with an 18' Duckwater that has straight up blind sides. With the oversized cockpit on those, he has a HUGE opening in his blind. I know another guy has a TDB 17' with the tappered in blind. Very little overhead opening. the DW guy complained about flaring birds, the other guy shoots a lot of limits. There is a lot to be said about concealment and the way TDB designs there blinds. I really like the look of the new hull on the DW,s but my number 1 request would be to taper the blind like a TDB or Bankes. Maybe for guys that want to hunt 4 guys out of a boat the taper blind isn't the way to go??? Not my choice of hunting style, so I would rather have the tapered blind.

Just my opinion though

Mike we will not rush into producing an inferior product. Like our layout boats we plan to only design and build them one way. The right way the first time. Many boats have been through modifications in its first couple years of production to fix problems with design flaws not found until the boats had been sold to customers. We have never redesigned any of our layouts because we made sure they were right the first time. We have a good start with the TDB and Armstrong boats because the hull and deck designs are great already but believe with some minor modifications to the way the boats are put together and designed inside we can make them even better than before using the same hull and decks. We will begin building the hulls and decks next week and work on the interior designs for floatation foam etc. First on the list will be the Black Jack. Stay tuned.

With alittle luck by spring we will have some of the models on the website for sale at great prices.

I wonder is there a way to have 2 sets of blinds?? On that tapers for marshy areas and one that's straight up for open water.? Would this make the boat more versatile??

The tapered blind is a better hide. Shaped stealthy. John

Yes, the tapered blind is great. When you grass the boat at the beginning of the season the reeds close off the opening and then you just cut your way out so opening is big enough to pop through, but not to big that birds flare. Another tip is to leave the grass higher on one side of the boat to great a "back". Then you have more camo from the back and less on the "front" side that you shoot towards.

Only complaint I have is there needs to be some time of soft cover that you could use when storing the boat outside or in the water at the dock when it is grassed. The hard cover only works when the blind is down so a soft cover that could cover the cockpit and allow you to leave the blind up would be ideal.

Do you have any rough ideas where you are going to be price wise on your boats, I'm about to pull the trigger on a boat but might hold off depending where you guys might be.

Bill yes the boats will be tested even though they have previously been tested we plan to retest to insure the utmost safety. This is part of why we cannot have boats available immediately. We just had our annual inspection and discussed the current rates with the inspector as well and everything looks to be right in line with the capacity labels however retest is needed since we want 100% certainty that they are within USCG specifications. Stay tuned we will be video taping the procedures when they are done.

Tony I gun out of the 14' TDB meny years ago at deal iland,md 2 adults and 1 teen we raped chicken wire withreed all around the boat hadanice week of gunning. Kirk Shirbine has two half of my barnegat sneackbox he has not done anything with it and if you would like also to have that in your inventory you are welcometo get the half from kirt has they are not his. my boat was taken to maryland to be tested for six or seven hp. I guned with kirt down to barnegat bay some years ago and was not empresed with the quality. I have also built a classic barnegat with plans from mistic conn.I mifgt have the off set plans for that boat some were and it is feather edged my coast guard HIN is MVA. best bill

Got another question for you guys. Getting ready to order material to make some blinds for the 14ft Class and sea class and need to know whether We go with Green or Tan for the base color of the cordura? Thinking that we want to go with Tan? Then we will complete the paint color scheme on it with Paint to match the boat. Thoughts?
