I was out fishing this morning and saw a number of flocks of bluewings on upper Mobile Bay. Our season doesn't open until next weekend and we have plans for other stuff. Looks like I might get a chance to go the 26th though.

Saw a knot of birds this morning while red fishing on the IRL.

Been seeing them in the marsh for about a week during gator hunts.

Al, I'm looking forward to it. I think I will do a blast & cast trip, put the poles in the boat and do some fishing after about 8:00am. Area I will hunt has a lot of bluegill and redear sunfish.

Wow, I'm astounded. They must have taken an overnight blow straight there. They sure didn't stop in Ohio. There was a cold snap in August that maybe moved some but I kept an eye out and didn't notice any.

With temps in the 90s we don't expect to see any in the next few days either.

Enjoy them!

I wasn't surprised, we've seen them here as early as August 24th some years.
Teal are hit & miss since they are just passing through, some days they are thick you have a limit in 10 minutes, next day there are none.

Seen some good numbers in southwest Louisiana Friday on my way home from work. Then while bass fishing this morning and doing a lil scouting I saw several good groups flying and a couple of really nice groups resting in some slack water coves. So maybe our opening day this Saturday will be good.

Haven't been seeing many teal here but the resident mallards had quite the year. I have never seen so many yearlings.

i finally saw another small group today in North AL. Had been seeing several dozen a few weeks ago but I knew that was too early and they'd be your way long before the opener.
