Teal report...

Plenty of blue wings and green wings on the Illinois River. About 30,000 sitting on Emiquon. We shot out on Saturday at our duck club and managed 10 and a goose today. Pictured here from our opener are Bill Brown, yours truly, Josh Brown, Tim Speight and Molly. Molly's first teal hunt and she managed all 16 retrieves. Hunted over a rig of 36 hand carved decoys including blocks carved by Tim Speight, Geoff Vine, Bob Welsh, Ron Koch, George Williams and, Pat Gregory. Great fellowship and good hunting...

Good to see the tap hasn't run completely dry down by you. Hopefully you will be thick with ducks by the time Jack and I come visit!

Thanks for the shot in the arm. Jack will be out with me for youth hunt this Saturday. We scouted our "spot" and saw a bunch. Can't wait...

Way to go guys! Emiquon, one of the things Illinois has gotten right. I was in Peoria last Thursday night. I took a ride up towards Chilli to take a look at the river but got to dark to see much. I've always wondered about all the blinds in the river up that way and what the hunting was like.

Geoff - We're getting more water everyday. Clear Lake is spring fed. You're little GWT was part of a squadron that pulled in many green wings and blue wings. The cool thing to me is it was floating in the water that Richard Wilcoxen hunted. His home of Liverpool is directly accross the river from our club...

Ed - You are so right about Emiquon. Good to see that restored to prime waterfowl habitat. Back in the 1800's, that was one of the top prime waterfowling spots in the midwest. http://www.experienceemiquon.com/content/thompson-lakeemiquon-story

Looks like you guys had a great time. I wish we had an early teal season, we saw a bunch goose hunting on Saturday.

Geoff, just wanted to add that your Wilcoxen Teal looks sweet on the water! All but one of the birds we shot were coming in bellies up with their feet down...just beautiful!

Wonderful pictures Pat...Next time can you take a picture of the spread in action on the water...That is an awesome list of birds to be hunting over...
