Temperature Maps tells the Migration Story

This map of forecast highs pretty much tells the story of why we haven't seen a big push of ducks.
50s, 60s & 70s all the way to the Canadian Border.
Climate change, simply screwy weather, El Nino, whatever it is, it's definitely messed with migration patterns and timing.

In the Southwest metro of Minneapolis we had night crawlers frosted to the street this morning.

Night crawlers.

On the street.

In December.

I think that's some apocalyptic sign. Better start storing food and get my daughter a long bow......

I'm going to have to cut my grass this weekend, for the second time this month. I don't think I've cut it after Thanksgiving, ever.

We had a small push of birds on the full moon a week or two ago and now it's gone totally stagnant here in NJ unless you are targeting bufflehead. I gunned before work this morning and saw four birds. With 60 degree temps forecast for the weekend I'm regretting winterizing my fishing boat...

Rob, Katniss shoots a recurve.....I know because I have a teenage daughter who is well versed in all things related to "The Hunger Games" and we have read the books and seen the movies! I was in Fargo this weekend and did some flying around the area in a helicopter. There is still open water on the Red River and the Otter Tail River and the bigger lakes. Not minding the warm temps up here in Montana.....plenty of ducks around and I plan to do some fishing on the river next week.

Yesterday I tossed some kitchen scraps into my compost pile and turned over the top layer to cover it and keep the coons at bay. Got a big pitchfork full of rotting leaves swarming with garden worms. I may go out this weekend and fill a container for ice fishing season--assuming we ever get any ice to fish on.

Can't say I have ever dug worms for bait in December before . . . .

i was sitting in a tree stand yesterday for squirrels and i listened to wood frogs until the sun went down.

im loving this winter except for our low duck numbers. but it is a fair trade

I'm about done with ice fishing, id rather go up to Pete's house and annoy him about carving hens or wood ducks, lol

Well I walked out in my back yard yesterday and there were two gnomes sunbathing nude...I've never remember seeing nude Garden Gnomes in December before...;)

While hunting this morning,Carl, I observed a dragonfly land on Habi's tail. Last week I saw a butterfly while cutting firewood.

A year ago at this time, BdA NWR had over 90,000 ducks. This week there are less than 12,000 there.

Watched several moths moving about while deer hunting last weekend in PA. Butterfly flew by this morning while I was walking to work here in CT.

Be safe!

It does this ever since I starting talking to you about coming down there, I think it has been three years now. Sorry for screwing everything up.....

A friend and I were deer hunting in upstate New York over the weekend. I heard a buzzing noise. Looked up it was a swarm of bees 2 feet above my head.

Sea bass has been insane this year. Tog is closed in ct but is open in RI till the 15.

I just can't mentally switch to fishing right now, we only get so many days to hunt. Plus spearfishing has absolutely killed my desire to chase fish with a rod. It's too much fun to get down there with them.

We are seeing a few birds, but not many. It's 53 in Bangor, Maine on December 11.... silly. The bright side is the fishing is still really good.
