From all the guys I know and have hunted with from the DHBP 9and the refuge), I have got to say, you would love some of the Refuge crowd.

I dont know many guys here advocating for 5-7 guys shooting birds en masse as they come in (sans turns) and one reason being that of safety. The last thing I want to worry about is 5-6 other guys shooting around me when I duck hunt. Not the way I learned/care to hunt.

I sure hope this isn't a judgement call on me and who I like to hang around. I don't think we have ever met nor ever had a conversation.

If you believe what is in the post on the fuge, they did take turns on shooting and there were rules in place. I'll take them at their word (which could be a mistake as I don't know any of them) and they did what they said they did. Some of the pictures were disgusting and it does say something about the individuals involved but it doesn't say anything about the safety of the hunt.

You around when a group of DBHF guys/gals went down to Argentina last year. I believe it was more than 5 hunting together. Did you bring up the safety issue then? How about the last hunt Hitch posted about, I think there were more than 5 involved in that hunt as well. Where was the post? Just caus eit was the fuge and you don't approve of the way they hunted doesn't mean they were hunting in a unsafe manner. You know what they say about assuming anything right?

Like I said, I wasn't there and you were. I do see where the boys on the fuge question those who said they saw what they were up to. Said there wasn't anyone around them for 2 miles. I don't know how that would bother anyone. Once again, you have to take them at their word.

I am amazed that you know me well enough to say that I would love some of the refuge crowd. I bet I would enjoy some of the folks over there as I enjoy many over here. I'm sorry to see people being so judgemental, makes you no better than those you (as in plural "you" not the singular you) seem to abhore.

Mark- just addressing the temperature of what you wrote: "I have however hunted 7-8 guys on a small spit of land from lawn chairs and no camo.” this would fall into what I saw/said - a bunch of guys gunning a small spit of land shooting en masse. Now if you do that according to what you wrote, then, yes I would say you would love "some of the refuge crowd". If you take it as a personal insult, don’t, you are just getting my opinion to the situation, what I saw and the alignment you seem to have to the refuge post. Having met you or having a conversation with you wouldn’t justify/nullify my opinion at all. Don’t get sand in your privates over something like that.

From a logistic sense, there was no way they can make a statement like that of 2 miles, heck the bay isn’t that wide in some places and not where they were. Within 2 sq. mile of where they were gunning were numerous duck clubs, no less than a dozen+ permanent blinds, handful of waterfront huts, a couple of docks and I cant count how many striper/sturgeon fisherman. Bottom line, they acted like juveniles, posted it on the net, weren’t safe (IMO) and acting in way that hurts us all.

Now I wasn’t in Argentina and shooting 5-6 guns to a blind, I wasn’t there and didn’t see it and had I been, then I could have raised an opinion about it. Nuff said, this has become wearisome, I have three more weeks of hunting to think about. Have a great safe season.

the Argentine groups DID NOT HUNT in one blind...they broke up into "pairs" and "singles" ......as I understand it the groups "varied" as to personal preferences on what ducks to shoot, where to shoot, and rotating so that everyone got to shoot with everyone else.....

No GANG shooting that I know of....

Well,,,,as this thread grows,,,it morphs,,,from bad public image to the number of guns in a blind and so on and so forth....but I remain confused as to the real objective.....

Does it matter it there are 3 or 4 or 5 or... guns in a blind? I used to hunt with a fellow from Logan Utah that had a 21 foot blind boat....he would invite 4-6 of his buddies and we would all go to the blind boat about 4 am..Bland would make breakfast. I would set decoys as I was the youngest of the bunch (the rest were all over 60 and some 75 plus). Then we would toss dice to determine shooting order for the day....2 guns at a time and turns being taken....I spent most of my time working the dogs and keeping the "old" guys in shells and coffee... Interesting how your shooting skills decline as you age..

The boat was totally enclosed and had 4 shooting ports.

SO was all that bad hunting ethics? I am a bit confused if it was or not...

My objective was to point out how stupid it is to make assumptions about a group of people based soley upon pictures posted on an interent site. Because someone saw a group of hunters all close together the assumption was that a: it is unsafe at the least, and b: all these hunters are a certain type of individual.

No one from here was there, it appears that many did not read the entire post but yet we (collectively again) impose our standards upon them because we don't like the way they hunt. If you don't like it - fine. If you think they look like fools - fine. Just don't rush to judgement without the facts.

Since the assumptions above were made, maybe we can also assume that this was a charity fund raiser for kids without the means to go hunting. Don't get me wrong, I'm fairly certain I know what this hunt was about and it wasn't a fund raiser. Also, like I said earlier, judging people without the facts says something about the individual making the assumptions and I don't think it is a whole lot better than what these guys did.

And Steve, I guess I stand corrected on the Argentina hunt. I thought I had remembered pics of a group hunting together and I know some of these individuals and in no way would they ever hunt in any unsafe manner - ever.

Assumptions.....the world is rife with them,,,,even if the "facts" might be known, many times the facts are over shadowed with the myopic vision of the assumption...maybe it is those rose colored glasses with the flamingos on them..
