The A-5 is back

Was just on the Browning web page they are reintroducing the A-5! Set to be released in September for the upcoming season.

Talked to a gun rep who went to the SHOT show and had an opportunity to take a look and handle the new A-5. As mentioned it isn't the old A-5 as far as internals and metal. It is a recoil operated mechanism like the Bennelli Super Black Eagle. Instead of the barrel recoiling back like the original A-5 it now a gas opporated recoil with a rotating bolt. It is also a good bit lighter due to the reciever not being solid steel. So, yes it isn't your grandfathers old reliable A-5 but I have a feeling it will still be a great shotgun for duck hunting. I personally own 5 A-5s and hate that I can't duck hunt with them because of the steel shot factor but I am seriously going to take a look at Brownings new offering...The gun rep did tell me that they are expecting a retail price of $1200-$1500 depending on options. I was planning on adding a new Beretta x-400 xtrema to the gun safe this year but that is on hold until I see and swing the new A-5...

Sweet! The first 12 ga. that I ever shot was my dad's (actually, my grandpa's) Belgium A-5 with the engraving and gold plated trigger!!! I loved that gun!

Those pre steel barrels wil handle bismuth just fine. I have used it in my 16ga mod 12 since it was approved for ducks.

Oh, I also forgot to mention that it will only handle 2 3/4-3" shells so no 3 1/2s.... Of course, I'm not a big fan of the 3 1/2" so it would do me just fine....

To quote you "I hate the fact that I can't hunt with the A 5's due to the steel factor". There are many here that DO shoot steel thru their old A 5's but I'm like you--afraid to try.
