The spread and results from Saturday's hunt, I ended up shooting a triple on a flock of gadwalls (3 drakes), I have only done that a few times in my 30 year waterfowling career..................

Here are some pics from Sundays hunt with my new hunting partner - my 8 year old daughter Claire - it was a perfect morning - 10-20 mph winds, overcast, misty, and cold. THis was Claire's first real duck hunt with Papa in the duck boat. She selected the spot on this small island and we built a little bling and hid the boat at the other end. After about an hour of waiting - drinking hot chocolate and coffee, eating moon pies and sausage biscuts, and talking to the dog, - we had a single hen goldeneye splash down and I raised up and downed it with two shots as it attempted to flee. The shots put up several birds loafing in the area and then we had two big ducks coming from out front, we hid and called and they circled us twice then set up on the third pass and I took them as they came in on the laeft side, I hit the trailing bird with the first shot, then downed it with the secong, and puleed up to the leading bird with my third shot and winged it and it glided down out in the open water and was swimming for the wooded bank. When that duck hit the water Claire jumped up and said "PAPA YOU ARE AWESOME, WE GOT # DUCKS!" That was probably my proudest moment as a waterfowler - my 8 year old daughter thinks I am awesome! We got the boat and retrieved our ducks - 2 drake mallards and a hen goldeneye. We picked up a bit later and were covered up with birds, but the gun was unloaded and put away - safety first I explained to Claire!!
