hi i just wanted to introduce myself, ive been a lurker here for years and i have always found great inspiration on this sight. I have carved decoys off and on since i was 12 taught under one of my closest friends ned mayne. I make cork gunning decoys. my father and i have layout hunted for years amongst any other way to get up close and personal on some divers and puddle ducks. I have a great southbay sneak that i love but as my lab keeps growing i might need to put it up for sale! i hunt delaware and maryland at least 40 days a season. i shoot an 870 wingmaster(...you cant break the manual transmisson) here are some spoonies about halfway through paint. looking forward to getting to know you guys and sharing some info! Can't wait for rockfish season! any way i can help out please let me know

Very nice work - and welcome to the site (I joined just a couple of weeks ago). I grew up gunning out of scooters and grassboats on Long Island, now hunt out of canoes and sitting on the banks of Upstate New York beaver ponds, swamps and rivers. Still savor my saltwater hunts each January.
I look forward to see more of your decoys - and maybe some pics of your layout rig.

I like the style of your decoy carving, and I like the neatness and style of your paint patterns.
Lots of good information here, and I am looking forward to your contributions. I just retired my 870 Magnum to the closet last season (about 40 years old and 248,372 miles on it) to switch over to a Versamax. While I agree that Model 12's and the older 870's are dependable "manual transmissions" of duck hunting with great histories, I got to the point I really didn't like the "punch" I got every time I kicked off a 3" steel load. I find I really appreciate the recoil taming of the Versamax. At 62, I need every advantage I can get..............
