The pictures don't do the cold justice

Last week it was minus 15 with the wind chill out here, most likely the coldest temps I have hunted in.

Here is a Jason Russell frozen snot nosed redhead decoy.

My son Spencer and Eric Wolf from MN who came out to hunt with us.
Eric had never hunted out west, he and Spencer represent Avery Outdoors on their youth field staff. Eric's dad passed away this spring and we wanted to do something to help him through some tough times.

After contacting Avery they bought Eric a plane ticket to Washington and Spencer and I treated him to three days of hunting. During the hunts Eric was able to take 9 species of waterfowl. A nice drake pintail and redhead are headed for the taxidermist.

Good job toughing out the conditions to get the kid out there. I'm being a wimp and staying nice and warm inside until someone shuts off the deep freeze over here.

I am glad that your hunt for Eric worked out well albeit on the cold side. I thought our hunt last weekend of last season was cold, this weather would put it to shame.

I would like to get out but after shoveling snow for two days, I only have the driveway clear and still have the road down the hill to worry about. I have been think about putting chains on the boat trailer to make it down the hill so I can float the Bankes. Not sure how I'd get it back up the hill.

See you in January?

Fred, that was a great thing that you did. The hunting looks to be awesome out there. It's nowhere near as cold here but I did get out today and the ice drifts played havoc with my decoy spread.............Merry Christmas................Kevin

Brad, January sounds good, have fun with the shovel.

I have Mikes Bankes in the barn right now, we could make a run and everyone would think they are seeing double!!

Put some sand on the ramp and be sure to chock your wheels before loading the boat onto the trailer. Guess you may not have meant the boat ramp. I really don't know much about negotiating icy steep hills on the highway.

They ran together last weekend. Two Bankes Crusaders on the west coast and they end up at the same boat ramp at the same time one stormy and cold Friday morning! Have fun and shoot straight. I know where you'll be on Thursday! Save some for me.

Nice hunt Fred. Those pics make it look almost warm.
I hunted last week, and my boat is still full of ice. My decoys were sinking, they had so much ice on them. Kind of like your Redhead there.
