What's on your list? With the season dates being announced for mn, it's got my wheels turning. Always lots to do!

And More importantly, what do you always forget to put on the list? Ha!

I got to put the outboard in the shop for a check up.
brush a giant blind we built in June.
touch up the boat blind.
dust off mu decoys.
calling practice.

A few cases of shells as my stockpile has been reduceed over the last two years, a float coat and possibly a double gun.

My list I can currently think of involves

Truck maintenance
Wheel bearings repack or replace
Clean up/paint decoys/replace any weights
Tune up outboards
Any boat fixes that need to be made
Practice shooting....

I usually try to spread things out over the course of the year, like painting dekes in the middle of winter etc.

1. Change over summer fishing boat back into fall hunting boat
2. Build removeable motor mount for Ducker (this weekend)
3. Get M1 checked out by gunsmith. It hard jammed 3-4 times last season. First time I've seen this (this evening)
4. Charge up batteries on everything needing them.
5. Buy WI license and stamp
6. Repair lights on Yakima trailer
7. Check lights on big boat trailer (even though I know they will be OK after hard wiring all grounds through wiring harness - thanks again Tom for the tip)
8. Top off bearing buddies
9. Buy two new pairs of thinsulate/wool gloves.
10. Fix decoys (weights, cracks, etc...)
11. Build new timer controlled LED light (just got in all parts - darn chinese "english" directions on how to program the 12V timer/switch. This could take all day. Hoping internet can help me out.
12. Reapir remote controlled duck. Built a swimmer out of old RC stuff. Sure is fun in the swamp. I think I can get it going 15 mph.
13. And so and so on

I better get going.

Mark,
you should think about bringing it to a sporting clays shoot,
,
, the guys would stand in line for a shot at it. :>) :>)

Kill 4 gators!
Upland hunt in WA!
Get my garage up (waiting on the delivery of the building) so that I have a place to put all my duck hunting stuff so I can bring it over from my dad's house.
Try to learn some new areas to chase ducks.

While it looks like decoy, it is not used for that function. Purely a toy. Used it a couple of times to fool a buddy. Trying to mount a small camera in it now and see how close I can get to the duckies. Also thought about adding a water cannon to spray those fellow hunters who decide to pull in 40 yeards from me. The possibilities are endless.

---^This is just hilarious...

For me:
1: Acquire some decoys.
2: Finish the boat/blind project I have had going for 5 months

This will be good. I need a list.
- replace the transducer mounting bracket for fish finder that seems to break every other year.
-repaint all bluebills in the spread. - needed it last year but didn't happen. I plan on recruiting my daughter to help with this task.
- finish carving the 6 mallards that I am currently working on. 3 more bodies to go then paint
-start giving the dog "refresher" training sessions a few times a week
-put the blind on the boat.
-get some new blind material for the boat blind because what I have is falling apart and just all round sucks.
- get my daughter out shooting some clays to give her a little more time behind a shotgun.
- check anchors and anchor lines on all decoys and replace where needed.
-2 weeks before the opener make cider from our apple trees (not duck related but it is an annual event that just makes it feel like duck season is here)
-coordinate my annual trip to Klammath for the opener with my Dad and long time hunting partner.
-Get licensees and ammo for myself and my daughter
That's what is on the list time will tell what all actually gets done, my guess is not all of it but thats OK because I'm not getting done because of family engagements. At my old job work was more of the problem and that was a problem!. As far as what I always forget. Well if I could remember I wouldn't forget....Oh! I just remembered fix the holes in my waders!!!!!

I hear Eric may have some extra space. Bama isn't that far from Florida even though I believe you are on the other side.

My list started forming shorty after season ended last year. And it just keeps getting longer, finish one thing and two things get added.
Finish decoy racks for my Broadbill.
Take the boat out to play with a bit and see how the racks workout,
Make some decoy anchor molds.
Pour lead for the anchors.
Rig all the new decoys, check the old ones and setup the longlines a little different.
Carve more decoys
finish painting all the decoys ive done.
Paint mine and my dads shotgun, (hopefully tomorrow depending on the weather)
Redo the lights on the boat trailer.
Carve more decoys.
Make a couple small stake blinds,
Check out acouple possible spot fors Sept Goose season.
Make a small blind/cover for the broadbill
a backrest for the broadbill
NDR but get some Pigeons for my setter before pheasant opens (brother has a pigeon coup down in NYC and gets street birds in sometimes)
Clean up the shop ( i can see once hunting starts that going to the bottom of my to-do list)
Try and organize small hunting stuff, calls clothing etc...
and carve a few more deocys.

Finish some of the stuff I did not get to do before last season including installing some netting in the boat to keep stuff where it should be.

Also; touch up the decoys and boat, put everything back together, make a few new birds for the rig, shoot some clay birds with my son, and (of course) cut grass.

Tom

I have to start making my rig for this year or I'll have nothing to hunt over.

The boat is in good shape I just need to take off the down riggers and Bimini then put the layout rack on it.

Every year I always say I will not be making and painting decoys during the season. Every year I find myself making and painting decoys during duck season. I'm right on schedule.

I got the truck all squared away, fresh brakes, oil change and coolant. Now I'm working on the wife's car- pressed in wheel bearings! Ugh!
