the surprise hunt. couple pics

I have been working entirely too much lately. Today, I had the privilege to drive an hour south in order to sit in a 15 minute meeting for the final unemployment appeal of an employee who was stealing...as shocking as this is, he did not show up to the hearing which was the result of his appeal. On the drive back I called Bourbon who suggested that we needed a boat ride... I did not need a lot of persuasion. I mentioned that I wanted to shoot a Winchester 1400 20 gauge that I bought used when I was 12 or 13 years old and Bourbon suggested that I bring it along. Dave Diefenderfer had a 1300 youth stock that he sent me last year that fit the 1400 (thanks Dave!) and I picked up a used youth barrel. I intended to make a very soft shooting gun for my boys to start hunting with, but I had to test it...
Well, at 30 yards the old 20 made me proud, cycled AND it had almost no recoil:) I can't tell you how happy it made me to kill a goose with this gun after it set dormant for the last 20 years. Thank you Dave for the stock and Thank you John for getting me out of work and on the lake. It was much needed.

My pics are not showing up...I used to just copy and past from a private album I set up on Facebook...that doesn't seem to work anymore. If anyone has any other shortcuts, Let me know and I will get some pics up.

Good deal Cheech, anytime I kill a goose it's a surprise. This is starting to look like it could be a good season.

Hello Cheech. Yes that was a fun hunt/boat ride. While I realize I saw the pics as they happened and theoreticially don't need to see them now....unfortunately all I see is little boxes with "X's" in them. When I tried to click an "X", it brought me to the Duckboat logon page with Dave Diefenderfer's name in the log on spot. What did you use to post the pics, photobucket or some thing we need to be signed into?

The attachments look great, Cheech. It sure looks like you are ready for the duck season to begin. Glad that 20 gauge worked so well.

Your pictures came thru to me, as a result I plan to take my o/u 20 gauge out opening this weekend. A gun that hasn't been shot since the ban of lead shot.:-)

Well, I did as you said and "busted" out my Italion 20 gauge o/u and with bismuth #6 killed the first duck that gun has ever shot at--many pheasants thru the years but never a duck. Joe O sent the shells to me to try and the kill was outstanding. "Opening day in Northern Wisconsin"
