The View From Down South: it's hard to watch you guys while we wait and wait for the calendar to turn!

Guys,
I went scouting briefly today. But we have almost a month till season starts down here in South Carolina. Meanwhile, you all up north are in mid season. Heck, Pat Gregory has been to Canada, North Dakota, Illinois and everywhere in between hunting all ready.

And while some of you have experienced the most balmy of seasons, yet you are still able to get out with the boat, the decoys, the wind and the waves.

Down south, we just sit and sit and sit waiting for the calendar to turn.

I decided to share some pics from previous years in my previous life in Michigan. The photos have a brief description to help you figure out where they are. This is my way of joining you all while down here in the south, we wait and wait and wait.

Just highlight and click "go to address" and you'll be taken to my Flickr site.

Larry,

I know the feeling...... Tick Tock up here in the North State as well. Have you been seeing any decent bird movement down there yet? Our Season opens next Saturday (11.14.15) and we still have not had the push I am certain many of us had hoped for......

yeah-and then when its ice and snow blowers here- you'll be posting hunting pictures

it averages out

Right! That whining you heard is impatience on my part!

I get it Larry- its a long wait from the end of one to the beginning of the other no matter were you are

And yeah - a bright sunny 75 here in upstate NY today, does sunscreen come in camo colors?

Hey Pastor Larry - I know you go where the Lord leads you and, I respect that however, next season, if you can get away from your congregation for a week, please come up and join me for some hunting as I love to take overworked pastors out into the marsh to forget things even if it only is for a week. Took one out last Friday and, he was all smiles...

Join me if you can. And, to God be the Glory! Pat

If it helps, you have not missed much in the area that I hunt.

I am in Orlando right now, and I see the swamps and think to myself- his place would be great in about two months!

Out fishing today, saw couple hundred gadwalls, a flock of bluewings and a bazillion coots. But that was spread out on a lots of water. Opener is only 22 days away, hope the migration picks up soon or its gonna be slim pickings.

Kevin,

You would think by the amount of water here that we would be covered up in ducks in the winter but it's been my experience that there is so much water in FL that the ducks are kinda picky and really only stack up on places that have lots of groceries. There are marshes all over the state that, as a northern boy, I would swear looked ducky as heck, but rarely have ducks on them. At the same time, there are some borrow pits along I-4 that have the right veggies in them and will hold a surprising number bluebills, redheads and wigeons.

I second the sentiments about waiting for the season to open. It's downright painful when I see my friends up north posting pictures on facebook and duck season is still a month or more away down here. It's getting close now though!
