There any golfers here?

No sense buying a new set if the old ones are adequate. Although I am a hypocrite, since I can't resist a new set of golf clubs. Always a new toy. The garage was littered with old clubs a couple years ago. I was ordered to do a cleanup so I gave some sets away to kids, and tossed a few other sets in the dumpster to teach them a lesson because they hit too many balls in the water. ;)
Ive seen a few clubs punished before. I even saw a putt missed and the whole bag make it to the lake right off the green of the 18th. Ol boy made it about half way to the club house when regret finally set in. He turned around, mumbled under his breath as he walked back to the point of entry, shoes came off, socks came off, pants got rolled up and I was on the floor dying laughing as he waded out to find his bag of clubs. Of course I watched the whole thing and took lots of pics.

How about keegan this year. Not sure how much attention you all are paying to the tour this year, and i know its only the par 3 contest (not a ton of effort per se) but this is his 3rd hio this year. I have been close a number of times, but never have hit a hio. Maybe one day ill get lucky. But gosh dang, number 3 and its only April. Hes on a roll.

Rinsing clubs from time to time reminds them of their place. Time honored method to remove bad juju.

Not a big Bradley fan, but three aces is good golf.

Hey... fred couples (one of the greatest of all time) is even up to 7 woods/hybrids in his bag today. If it works, it works. Its been said, sometimes it aint about the arrow, its more about the indian.
My best hunting buddy has golfed since he was a child (now he's in his late 50s). His dad was an avid golfer. My buddy has 3 green jackets from local leagues. He's not bad. When his dad passed, he gave me his old golf clubs. I can flat out send a golf ball with the pitching wedge. The only blade in my bag is a sand wedge, because I couldn't get under a ball with the hybrid SW. Those hybrids allow an older/weaker person to get some better distance. I did trade my 9.5 driver for a 10.5 driver with a little more flexible shaft and saw a giant improvement in distance and now the ball flies straight with no slice. I am still best at drinking beer, though.

I go back and forth on Keegan. Hate the 70's porn stash hes been rocking all year. He just looks like an ol creepy man too. But hes on a hio tear.

Sounds like you have figured out what works best for your swing. I think you probably play better than you're leading on. When we were kids, we found out 18 holes was because there were 18 shots of scotch when the game was created. When the scotch was gone, it was time to go home. Well in high school we would play a game that if you lose a hole, you take a shot. If everyone ties, no drinking happened. Generally by hole 10-12, we knew who was needing a ride home, taking the rest of the shots, and who was going to have to leave their car in the parking lot over night. Oh to be a kid again.

My old man loved the game and was a pretty good golfer. And a great hunter and fisherman. I only inherited the latter. Can’t swing a club to save my life. Or hit a baseball either.
But I love watching the pros golf. Nothing like seeing a great golf shot. The eye hand coordination and muscle memory these guys and gals have these days is just mind boggling.
Watching Golf is what when it’s summer and way to hot to fish down here.

I played lots of golf from when I was teenager to when I had children. Gave it up for 25 yrs or so until my son and his wife moved back to my hometown 2 yrs ago and told me that I needed to buy a set of clubs and start playing golf with him. I play to mostly to get exercise as I/we typically walk instead of using a cart. Doesnt hurt that their is a course 2 blocks from my office and we can sneak 9 holes in pretty much any day over lunch. I probably play 3 to 4 times a week and consider myself a bogey golfer.

Whos watching the masters this weekend? I picked the game back up last year after putting them away at 18 years old, with multiple scholarship offers, knowing I wanted to chase the adventures outdoors (mostly waterfowl) vs being on a golf course through my 20's. I never intended to ever pick them back up until some smooth talkers talked about how good they were in the hospital I work for. My inner child and competitor couldnt bear to listen to them, with many errors in their talking, I kind of knew they were probably not as good as they said they were. But I dug the old clubs up, and played all last summer. Surprisingly, was having some back pain, and it solved all of that. I was shocked, and basically said I would continue to play in off season to just keep the back twisting and limber... apparently that was the issue. By the time I put them away for the waterfowl season, i was back shooting in the high 70's for my scores. Made a few changes for this off season, will play my first round in a week or so as I found my contact again (went ahead and invest in new technology) and learned to play these clubs. Wondering if there are only boat builders here or if others smack the little white devil around a little and curse on the green grass. If no replies, delete the thread lol.

I'm just posting here to get in on the thread that signals the death of the forum.
