Mother and daughter (Pepper and Salsa) had their litters 13 hours apart. That was some trying times for them and us! What an experience that was especially when the first one started at 12:45AM.

Chip at 7 months old. What a way to end the season. He had to break through a 1/2 inch of ice to get to the widgeon. "Good boy, Chip!"

Nothing as cute as a black lab puppy.

I had sort of "left" the water fowling world for a few years after my first Lab Josie died. There were other factors too but that was a big one.

Now I have my Lucy, and she has helped rekindle the flame.

Quality of life improves when you have a lab.

Al- you did it again! What a way to start my morning! I absolutely love lab pictures, especially puppies! Do you get quite a few chocolate pups. Always looking for connections on them. Thanks for the pictures. Jim

Al, Thanks for your pics, as always they are great. The weather is getting warm here finally, have to check my woodie houses while the ice is still good. Going to move all out of the trees to steel posts in the water.

Thanks Al for the puppy pic's. I miss climbing into the whelping box and getting mauled by the litter. Best stress med's known to man

Thanks for the comments, Kevin. I am glad that you ended up getting another dog and hope that Lucy is filling you with tons of positive thoughts. I sure agree about that statement when you said that the quality of life improves with a lab.
Al

Good morning, Jeff. Glad you liked the pictures. As for the pups when Bev and I were raising those two chocolates we quickly found out that two is way more than double trouble! I think you would have your hands full with all of them.
Speaking of all---Habi just had a "herd" of black pups on Saturday. She ended up with 6 girls and 5 boys.

Took this shot 24 hours after they were born. She is a remarkable dog. I don't know how she does it but you would never know she just finished having pups when looking at her. The pups are growing like weeds and all are looking very healthy at this time. Today Bev and her daughter will take them to the vet to be looked at and have their dew claws removed.

This is the pup that Bev picked out of Habi's litter last February when it was just 15 days old. It looks like she will go into the mid 60s. I'll have to check on her records and see for sure. She has made a great addition to our kennel. When that time comes she will be put together with Chipotle. We just took this picture about a week ago.

You are most welcomed, Gary. I hope that there was a log or two in the fireplace but if it was that cold, then it would have been better for them to be in a furnace.
Al

Hey Tom---thanks for the comment. Good luck with those wood duck boxes when you put them onto the new steel poles. I hope you post some pictures.
Al

Thanks so much, George. We think so to by the way. They have a way of making one much younger and we love being involved with them.
Al

Mom with the first two under her chin. We didn't know at the time that she still had 9 more to go.
