This mess has bothered me, a lot of hurt feelings to recover, I'd like him to come back

I would have rather seen him as a Cardinal, at least the Yanks don't have to deal with him if he was still in the NL.

Eric,

Our world has changed. We would like our stars to stay on our favorite team. It seems like the more money they make the more money they want. I'd guess that going to an AL team had something to do with it also.

The Cards will be better off not having committed that much money for that long a time period.

I'm just glad the Cubs didn't make a mistake signing him, if there ever was a chance.

Yeah, that is interesting but did you hear that the Beastie Boys are going to get into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 but RUSH still isnt in there??? Boy that is a real slap in the face.

What the heck?!?! And where is KISS? The Beastie Boys weren't rock nor would I say they had a quarter of the influence that KISS or Rush have......

Oh, and Pujols went to the AL so he could extend his career as a DH.

I can't believe RUSH is not there! Crime!

exactly... rush is canadian. And they very well might be the best thing to come outta canada besides candian club, but still. Let em in the hall o fame, and next thing you know we'll have the metric system and free health care.

With the current exchange rate, rush only has like 2.4 members... I remember when they had like 5.2 members. Back then a loony wouldnt buy squat. Now one of those pink 20's with ann landers picture on it is like $30 us, and you can get like 150 liters of gas for that...

One good thing about the metric system, chicks are impressed when you tell them your packing 74 mm. travis

He's going to get 250,000,000 over 10 years, who would turn that down? Those numbers just boggle the mind. It's practically DOUBLE what the whole franchise was bought for 8 years ago. What's wrong with that picture?

The stat that blows my mind that I heard is that if he has the same number of ABs next year as this year he will make $33,000.00 an AB. That is ridiculous.

Your Cardinals made the right move. Albert is breaking down and maybe has 2 stellar years left. He will then be a hobbled DH forth rest of the contract. Good move not resigning him. I know it sucks now, but wait and see.

The thing what shocked me was figuring out what he will owe in taxes over the next ten years. He will actual not make much more then would have taking the lower Marlin's offer because of the top tax rate in CA. With federal and other states' taxes he will pay over $100 million. Dang, they sure need to tax the rich more. (rolling eyes)

I do think it is too much, not because he shouldn't make it but because I believe after 5 years they will be talking about how good he WAS. In the next five if they can win a WS or two maybe it's worth it to them.
The Cards made it in the last week without him doing anything and other then a couple games in the post season he wasn't that great. He had plenty of injuries and still had a great season so for the next few years he is worth it.

It's all about entertainment. If the team could be successful and make money (think cubs) without him they would have. They have to pay what the market will bare. I thought the Cards almost went too far, they will be better off with some more pitching and maybe a shorter contract at first.

I'm a Mets fan so my team needs a good Ponzi scheme to get back in the game.

Hmm...interesting thread title given recent events on the forum.

and here I sit wondering where Prince will run off too next then now that AP signed...crazy money for a nearly 32 year old often injured man...

It proves that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke to be honest.
