This Season's Project.. 1928 Benjamin Hallock Gunning Scooter

Wow - awesome video and photos. I really enjoyed the old scenes, especially of the sailing scooters. You did an exceptional job grassing yours. Good luck this season.

Anthony~

As much as I love the Scooter, that Garvey is exactly what I would have if I were still on the Island. Perfect size with the perfect dodger. Got a small seat for when big seas tell you to get down a bit lower?

Also, will you cover the little Merc - or hide it in the Garvey? I once made the mistake of laying one on the bog 'neath a burlap bag during a hunt. Never could restart it that day.....

Showing my age: When I see IG I think Inspector General.....

All the best,

Hey fellas,
Yesterday afternoon buddy and I ventured out to harvest some fresh salt-hay to cover up this beauty.. here's a few photos of how she looks now. The boat has been loaded up with her current gunning rig 6 Al McCormick cork black duck and hopes to once again see some falling flights this coming Saturday! Will keep you all posted on the journey...here's a project video: 1928 Hallock Restoration VIDEO

Bryce- Yes I use a 12" tiller extension on this boat but primarily will be shoving it with the 14' Ashwood Shovin' Stick

Roy- Exactly that! Was a transformation for sure...

Anthony, is that a 16' Chincoteague Scow your towing your Sneakbxx with or a Jersey Garvey?

Is it a Glass Boat Works Hull ? Smart move with the dodger up front and I also see you,ve got the strips down side to break splash from coming into stern. I ran an 18' for several years. Great little hulls , rarely see them now as most have gone to Carolina Skiffs in that style hull.
Roy, yes that the one! Straight out of VA Love the boat restored a bit about 3 years ago removed the factory console and converted to a tiller. Perfect lil runabout. They sold these a few towns over from where she docks now. Compass Rose Boatworks (Barry Kanavy) 506996018_10234834491699035_7785666674756655191_n.jpg

Several times i,ve come close to buying another but in 16' this time. Great little foot print for a boat blind and of course a perfect little run a round boat . Were a couple for sale recently in Va. on Facebook.

Anthony~

Sounds like a fine morning. (Still no ducks hereabouts....)

Any surprises with the vessel?

All the best,

SJS
Really enjoyed the boat Steve, not much surprises just yet but hides very well and shallow draft. Took some time shoving around earlier today to get used to the feel, overall really happy with it, lots of memories to be made this season & beyond!
