For my 4th year now, I enjoyed the opportunity to teach some local kids about New York's waterfowl. Member Mark Mahoney is my entree to the 4H Shooting Sports program - and the kids are always are fine bunch.

Steve, you have to be so proud. That looks like a great bunch of youngsters eager to learn with an instructor with the same attitude about teaching.

Steve,
Great looking bunch of kids. Thanks for giving your time and energy to breath new life into waterfowling.

Thanks for the kind words - but I can take very little credit. It has been my privilege to appear as a "guest lecturer". This program is part of the nationwide 4H Shooting Sports Program. In New York, it is coordinated through Cornell Cooperative Extension. Here in southern Washington County, this longstanding effort now includes about 15 instructors, with a variety of certifications. The course is for kids 12 - 16 years old and runs for 10 weeks.

All the best,

SJS

Got back from the Ward Worlds decoy show. Not a whole lot of young people carving decoys, a lot of the people teaching have slowed down or stopped. Thanks to Steve and other carvers the tradition goes on.
25 years ago novice, intermediate and advanced had 20 gw teal, 5-6 blacks-mallards. Local carver Capt Fred passed and someone gotta pick up the torch.
Great job Steve...
