Thursday night...

Thursday nights are my absolute favorite nights to carve. Tonight was perfect, carving some GWT for a friend ultimately migrating north to Wisconsin. Tonight the shop was filled with Michigan White Cedar aroma. Tools of choice included great grandad's draw knife (well over 100 years old), a Rutger's spokeshave and a 16 inch Nicholson half round rasp I call "Mr. Meat". That rascal will take a bite out of a knuckle. Weather was perfect and the music was delightful! Shop doors were open and the music selection included Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney, Glenn Miller and the Dorsey Bros. all being broadcast live on Radio Munson on WGLT. Incredible night!

Post up your favorite carving music...

I bet it would be fun just sitting back listening to you take off wood with a spokeshave to "This Ole House" or "Summer Wind".

I haven't carved much lately but when I do, or paint, I always have music going. Might be Sinatra, Tom Jones and Nat King Cole one minute and then over to Black Sabbath, AC/DC and Guns and Roses the next.

Pat,
No music when I carve right now but when I paint I have a large variety of music, bluegrass, country and some alternative. Just depends on my mood.

Thanks for sharing your night with us. Never been to your shop but it painted a nice picture of what I think it would be like. I will be able to get back to paint and carving next week finally.

This time of year I schedule carving around listening to the ball game. Bluegrass, jazz, classic country, red dirt country, Ella Fitzgerald plus the dean and frank at times.

Honestly Tim, some days after a long day, I just like listening to the spokeshave take cedar chips off one chip at a time... Pat

Lately for me it's been a lot of Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Old Crow Medicine Show, and "Toddler Radio" on Pandora... With a 3 year old around I am trying to keep it a little cleaner than in the past :)

He was helping me paint Black Ducks yesterday. There is no denying we share the same DNA when you watch us paint, the similarity is scary.

Pat...those GW's are looking good my friend. I'm getting excited about our youth hunt already. They will be a joy to hunt over!!

classicql and jazz during the week, opera on saturday, phila orch on sunday-AND, did i mention a nice eclectic bunch of 33'3 ranging from hendrix to bach!=, with some old c&w's from the 80's-juice newton, etc.
%$@ humidity is really slowing down my add paint application right now, too!

Doin' very little carvin' now. Busy fly fishin' listening to the stream, birds, and all that Nature has to offer. Including the Big eyed "look" of this Springs fawns. It's All Good in this neighborhood.
