Today's Sign of the Apocalypse

Driving home from an evening meeting tonight--9:30 at night, west central Maine, December 15.

Had to swerve to miss a frog hopping across the road.

Still have giant house flies in Southern New England and found a frog yesterday on lawn and a salamander crossing the road a week back. Great for the heating bill!

Yeah Jeff, i feel your pain, I saw worms crawling on the blacktop after an inch and a half of rain Sunday night, SE Minesota. Mississippi is totally ice free, we're supposed to drop into the 20s Friday but then warm up to the mid 40s Sunday. Strange!

This is my kind of winter. I'll trade no ducks for no snow.

The best part is since it is so bad no one else hunts!

Anyone see birds moving with the stiff north wind yesterday?

A few local lakes we can't hunt have been building #'s. Mallards, buffies, whistlers, geese. unfortunately they are sticking where its safe.

I move to have Chris banned from this site he obviously isn't our kind!

This can be arranged, sorry, I don't do PayPal...I do however accept cash, checks, hand-carved decoys, bottles of wine, boxes of kittens, or antique fishing lures...

BLASPHEMY!!!!!
I am confused why you are here if you wod make that trade....

I saw a newly hatched snapping turtle covered in dirt trying to cross a bike path (heading toward a parking lot and away from water/mud/anything good for a snapping turtle) on December 13 in Syracuse, New York. It was about 60 degrees outside. I brought him back down near the water but I doubt he'll make it.

Either he hatched that day or woke up from his hibernation/winter dirt nap early. Either way, not good.

Agreed Scott

No snow for no ducks.... Is not the same as prefering to shoot ducks in shorts vs layers.....

#1 reason I will never hunt Mexico... Hate warm weather hunting... But that is a separate topic....

Because I'd rather shoot ducks in shorts down in Florida than in 12 layers in ct.

In MHO, there is NO satisfaction in sitting in a kayak stewing in my own juices swatting at mosquitoes the size of humming birds waiting for a duck! There are things I like about Florida but hunting isn't one of them.

Wow...

And today there are Canada geese up here just south of the northern U.P. Of Michigan in a picked cornfield along hwy 8 on the way to Norway, MI. !!!!!! On December 16th! I've officially seen everything now folks! Your right. I think it must be a sign of the apocalypse!!!!!

I drove around all day today with the windows open in my work truck. Saw puddlers in many little swamps. Fewer geese though.

The sound is back up to the low 50's. North zone closes jan 7th (south zone jan 20th) , I don't think it is going to happen in time for duck season. But if January 21st comes and we get a wicked storm I'll lose it.

I'd rather shoot teal and woodies all season and then go catch some specs or reds. Than shovel anymore snow.

One odd thing is I haven't seen any skunks, which usually come out with the warmth.

I'm still wondering what Chuck does with his boxes of kittens.
