Took an early morning walkabout

I needed to get out of the house and go for an early morning walk. The temp was in the low 60s and very comfortable. My little buddy, Chip, was tagging along so I brought along his favorite toy for "just in case".

Thank goodness for our July rains. I just found out today that this August was the 10th driest on record---since the 1890s. What fickle weather patterns. In July we received over 5 inches of rain where we live and that was twice as much as we received all of the past twelve months. I just hope we can get one rain in September, preferably on the 20th. Teal season opens on the 21st.

This is a Chitalpa which is a flowering tree that grows to about 20 feet in height. We have it planted on the west side of the kennel to help provide some shade. Just planted it back in June and it is really growing nicely.

Today marked the first time I had Habi out and training since she had pups. She was ready without a doubt. The one thing that I have noticed is that she is adopting Chip and plays with him constantly when we put them together.
As Chili helped teach Habi what to do, I will now allow Habi to help teach Chip.

Almost looks like a smile on Chip's face.

That dog is growing and GROWING!

what a great set of shots.
Hope your eye is mending well.
I am fixing to get mom and my brother up on Grizzly peak tomorrow, should have some photos of the Red dog to share.

Keep em Coming Al.

I don't post here much at all, but your photos are awesome and inspired me to say so (I'm a believer in the "unspoken praise has no value" sentiment)! I like photos of dogs at play as much as I do of dogs at work. Just delightful shots!

Todd,
I sure did enjoy that picture of you and your mom up on Grizzly Peak. That made my day.

Your comments were much appreciated. As for the eye, it heals at the same pace almost as when it began to get bad. It is one of those things that you can't put your finger on. All I can tell you now is that I am beginning to see things out of it. Sure makes a guy feel good.

For me, Gary, this (your comments) would be known as a pleasant surprise. What you had to say meant a lot to me. I am glad that you took time to write it. Thank you so much.

Hey, Doug. You sure got that one right. When it was time to go back to the kennel for Habi, she had a hard time with giving up "her" new found toy.

Al...Enjoyed the photos as always! I've got a new German Wirehaired Pup I've been training. Wow! It's been 10 yrs since I last worked/trained a pup. She's coming along nicely. I'm looking forward to some actual hunting experiences so we can put all that back yard training together. I forgot how much energy these pups have! When I let her out of her kennel she's a constant blur running from one corner of the yard to the other and getting into anything she can. I have an 11 yr old English Setter and the pup loves to taunt him which he has no patience for but too gentle to really do anything about it except to bark and growl at her.
