Over my life I have owned many boats. Earlier in the year I purchased a new boat for our lake place. Prior boat was a Yamaha jet powered boat and while it worked well at the time, I wanted something quieter with more comfortable seating. This and my kids and their friends have grown up and the 180hp jet was struggling to get them up on skis.
Anyway, this is my first ever stern drive if you can believe it. Would have preferred and outboard powered boat of the same size but up here in MN outboard powered speed boats are rare. I have a lot to learn about this and the first I learned right away is draft is a whioe lot different than the Yamaha. I do have a couple of questions that I know someone can answer.
1. The boat was put in the water two weeks ago or so when it was warming up. Since then, it has started getting colder again after dark. Almost to freezing levels. Do I have to worry about the water in the engine freezing? When it was stored, it had antifreeze in it but that is gone since the boat was driven for 30 minutes or so before being put on the lift.
2. I have read thart the stern drive should not be fully titled up when on the lift as it is bad for the bellows. Can it be partially titled or should it be all the way down?
Thanks
