Trailer idea and recommendations?

I was thinking it would be a good idea to just bite the bullet, a very big bullet, and fix the issue before it is too late.

Andrew,

Any estimate on how big a motor you are going to need? You making it a tiller or console? You going to make the space under the front deck a cuddy cabin? :)

When you get it ready for a sea trial let me know I might make a run up.

my bassboat is 19' and roughly 1800#s and i tow it on a single axle trailer. (it is 8.5' at the widest also).
while i don't think you need a tandem, you should look into trailer brakes in any trailer that size since the trailer itself will add a lot of weight pushing on the back of your rig.

tandems give you more weight handling and tow a little nicer.. honestly i don't notice much difference after pulling my buddies tandem. Singles are much easier to move around while on the jack wheel when maneuvering them onto your hitch also.

Thanks Steve for your input. I have decided to go with Andrew advice and bite the bullet or rather cut the support. I have also come the conclusion that a double decker probably isn't going to work. I may have room on the front half of the trailer, but will have to wait and see what I end up with for a trailer. I found one, but it's for a 20' boat, so I would have to pull the tongue off and make another, not that big of a deal, but there is also the question of how the boat will fit. Luckily a buddy owns it and I can try a few things before I buy.

Pete, I played with the math for a bit, and looking at a similar boat of that size, I think I could put a 250 hp on it without a problem. But will probably end up with a 150 hp at the end of the day. Need to see how it comes out.

I hope to be finish with the boat and the trailer by the end of August and as of now I am on schedule.

Justin thanks for you input. I have seen a couple single axles that might work, but most trailers of that size are tandem and again I think found one. And yes, it will have sometype of brakes. I would prefer electric, but in my price range it will probably be surge brakes.

i'm pretty happy with my surge brakes (when the backup solnoid is working lol). 1500 isn't that heavy, i got pushed around a little in my f150 but not bad. I have a 3/4 ton now so i can hardly tell its there anymore. :)
