So Blake got to make it out today for the youth hunt, with the assistance of Matt Kubiak, they made their way to Sturgeon Lake (where Blake and dad always hunted and where dads cabin is)

Got a chance at a goose, but forgot to take the safety off and was spotted.
Got the chance at a few wood ducks but to no avail.

Hey at least he got out right?

He may make another attempt tomorrow wish him luck, he is still not discouraged of getting that banded drake mallard!!
I think he may even want it more now!!

Thanks Matt for taking him out, and thanks to Paul for getting the decoy out for him.. He still has no idea its coming back to him!

Bridget,

Great they made it out! It seems a fitting way for the decoy to start off it's tour. Good luck to him tomorrow, and remind him that a bad day of hunting is still better than a good day at work (or school)!

Not the drake mallard he was hoping for, oh wait banded drake mallard excuse me... But he had a great weekend none the less..

Thanks again Matt Kubiak for taking him out, maybe when were up at Houghton in October he will be in luck for another shot!!
