Any recommendations on a trolling motor for a Four Rivers 13'6 or 11' boat ? Where I normally hunt I can not use a gas powered motor . Thanks for any replies .

jim, i have always had good luck with both minn kota and motor guide so i might be a situation of what you can get the best deal on.as far as what pound thrust will depend on the amount of people/gear you generally haul.

I hunt alone most of the time , and would be using it for small marshes' so Iam not sure really what would work the best as far as pound thrust .
 
well, the larger you have the heavier it is and also pull more on your battery.i have a 52 lb thrust motor on my 16 ft flatbottom for fishing.most days its plenty and some days i wish i had a 152 lb thrust motor.i would say for your application, 40 or so pound thrust motor should be sufficient.check your local boat dealer for people that trade theirs in to upgrade to a larger motor and of course the large outdoor stores usually run deals from time to time.keep in mind it has been several years since i have been motor shopping and i am not the best to give advise on this.this has been my limited experience though.

I use a Minn Kota Endura 30lb thrust motor on my Kara, about the same size as your boat. I don't think you'll benefit from having more than 30lbs of thrust. It's plenty for that boat. Any more than that would limit your range due to battery life. My range is a little over 2 miles (round trip).
