My first pretty pintail...

My boy was unhappy that Mike got to make the retrieve too. He's not too fond of taking turns. Mike was looking quite smug about it too.

Steve's had some pretty good luck with the fulvous this year....me .....Not so much

Hopefully I'll have some more nice pictures to post later.....but that's just a short photo blurb about how our season is going so far.

Nice. No Brewers or Piny X Park Ducks decoyed to those last two decoys?

Tim

Great pictures Dani, looks like a nice start to the year. Just had some friends come back from hunting in FL and I am quite jealous.

enjoyed your photos... cool decoys and the dogs look great. mike looks "distinguished" now with his gray beard. heres mike in his younger days and this was his reaction when i asked him if he was stupid, lol... Wash70_zpsc90b96e9.jpg

thanks y'all...glad you like the pictures

Mark....Mike still gets that look when you ask him the same question....that's a great shot of him.....he sure was a cutie as a "baby"...still is actually....

Hey Dani, how do you like those game winner waders from academy? are they the breathable ones? how long have you had them and any leaks? thinking of a spare pair that i can loan out to kids that want to hunt with me and my son and they don't have any.

Trip.

Sure glad you got that beautiful bull sprig, Dani. Congratulations! I, too, have really enjoyed your pictures and stories of success this year. Thank you.

Trip-

I bought the waders this year. So far I've been fortunate enough to not have ripped them. They're rubberized on the inside so not breathable. If you buy a pair, check the insides for dry rot and cracks. One pair I looked at was pretty badly rotted...and it was sitting on the shelf. I like them...They're lightweight, have kept me dry so far....though I do get VERY cold in them...no insulation to speak of, except the multiple layers of clothes you might choose to wear.

Plus I got them on sale for $50 so I'm not complaining at all right now.

Chuck-

A gentleman named Jay Martin carved it. He used to post here and I'm not sure why he quit posting on the site but he just drifted off. He and Steve became "site friends" (Jay started asking about a rig that he'd seen at MINWR and Steve recognized it as his friend Mike's rig) though they never met or hunted together. Steve gave him all of Mike's MINWR topo maps and alot of "where to/how to" information on how to hunt the refuge to get him started there. Mike was "recently gone" at that point and he had "seen " Mike and his decoys but hadn't met him. They talked alot about Mike and decoys and the refuge etc. etc etc. Jay made the Gallinule, (his Mom painted it), for Steve and floated it the season Mike died in one of Mike's favorite places on the Refuge then sent it to him.

Someone around here MIGHT still have pictures of the BITCHIN White Pelicans he made. The pelicans he made were even bigger than your swan decoys that you've made.

Shhhhhh, Dani. I wouldn't mention that you get cold in them. Those guys up where the water comes in solid form may find fun in harassing you!

Thanks for the info, I might look into them for the spares that I seem to need occasionally. Though if they are prone to dry rot if not used, might see what else they have (CHEAP). BTW, depending on where you rip them, you can always push Mike off the tube, have him sit on your lap and let Steve drag you around! How's that bike decoy hauling rig working out?

Trip?

I suspected it was Jay's handy-work. his mom is a heck of a painter too. Steve put me in touch with Jay a couple years ago, and I got some good info on making the sock head pelicans but have yet to put it to use. I think his Pelicans are a smidge wider but my swans might be longer, but either one puts A LOT of white on the water.

Reminds me I got to finish that swing keel for Steve's BBWD.

Best to you and your hunting companions of the four and two legged variety,

Chuck
