Tuckerton 2016 Photos - MORE

Steve, thanks for the quality photos. Can you elaborate on the changes or improvements to your gunning box design that a builder made? Ive built three of them from plans as drawn. Bob

Bob~

I recall 3 things:

1 - He made the plan view of the floor wider by a) reducing the side heights by ~ 1/2-inch to get another inch of width throughout and b) widened through shoulders and at bow.

2 ~ He uses EMT conduit for bow/hoop instead of laminated wood - as have I in recent decades.

3 ~ He makes his headrest adjustable for angle with a series of notches in the stem. I did not see this - so cannot explain it in detail.

We both abandoned the holes in the bow for reeving the painter. I use a wooden cleat and he uses a U-bolt.

He also doubles 'glass on bottom from about 18 inches aft for 24 inches or so - where most wear occurs when dragging.

Whereas I saw a handhold in the stern transom, he ties a loop in the drawcord and uses it to lift the stern.

He had another box I did not photograph but explored with him. It has 2 doors/flapboards made from 1/2-inch PVC pipe with mesh fencing (which he thatches) for his Snow Goose gunning in marshes. A very nice job!

All the best,

SJS

Thank you, Steve. This was very enjoyable. I know how much time it takes to put something like this together. Well done.

Great coverage Steve, I enjoyed every bit of it. I think this will have to go on my to do list for the near future. Thanks again.

Great photos Steve. Sorry I missed this year's show. Looks like you had a good time. You run into Castelli too?

Steve and Dave Diefenderfer it was great meeting you guys. I regret that I have forgotten the name of the other gentleman that introduced himself to me while I was talking to you guys. Do either of you remember what his name was? He said he was a duckboats member but I'm just very bad with names.

Yes, I plan to be there. I will be bringing my Sneakbox RED-LEG - and a bunch of rehabbed decoys and other projects I "owe" several of my friends....

Hey Steve-

On the picture of the dog sitting on the bow of the boat, you wouldn't by chance have any close ups of the blind would you? I'm curious as to the hardware used to create the top on the blind. I've been trying, unsuccessfully, to devise a way to put a cover/top on my blind to both conceal me somewhat and protect me from getting drenched during rainstorms.

Thanks -

Mark~

I have no other shots of the rig - but Shawn Linn and maybe Chad Andersen (if memory serves me) might know more.

All the best,

SJS
