Good morning, All~
I just got my application for the 37th ANNUAL OCEAN COUNTY DECOY & WATERFOWLING SHOW - aka "Tuckerton".
http://www.oceancountyparks.org/frmSpecialEvents
I have mailed off my application and check. I will be bringing a bunch of stuff and I plan to include a Gunning Box (Coffin). I sold 3 - in various stages of completion, from thatched up and ready to hunt to just the main "hull" pieces sawn to size - to a friend 2 summers back. So, I am currently sans coffin.
I have made one significant change since I drew the plans for my first one circa 1980 (drawn for "publication" in 1981). I have widened the floor dimensions near the shoulders. This gives a bit more room, but - more important - makes it easier to bend the bottom, sides and chine logs during construction. It should still drag and tow as before - and it still comes out of a single piece of 1/4-inch plywood. When I build my "replacement" this summer, I will post the steps here as usual.
This is the last one I built - with the new dimensions.

Here are links to Gunning Box info on my site:

The back story: https://stevenjaysanford.com/sanford-gunning-box-2/
Finally, since I will be at the Show all weekend, I plan to enter some birds in the decoy competitions. I'm thinking at least one duck and maybe a shorebird or two.....
Hope to see you in September!
All the best,
SJS
