Two and one half days

Till it is time to go hunting. I swear it came up quicker this year compared to others. I have my list and have already started to gathering the stuff needed. Couple of new folks this year. We had a couple of the regulars unable to make the opener so others were invited. Then we learn that the regulars can indeed make it. Looks like it is a party of 11 this year up from the typical 8. This will be interesting.

Also cooking some good old Jambalaya for dinner on Saturday. Considering this is a meat and potatoes crowd it will be interesting to see the reaction. If the food doesn't cut it, there will be more adult beverages served I guess.

Will also have the maiden voyage of the ducker. Our advanced scouts have said the water levels are back to where they were a couple of years ago which is a good thing. Maybe that blind I built for the ducker won't be needed after all.

Anyway, the official countdown has begun. Hunting stuff in order tonight and cooking Saturdays meal is tomorrow night. Thursday will be getting final and leave Friday am. Man how I love this time of the year.

Mark,

I'm with you on the packing and loading of gear. Moved the dog kennel, tent, sleeping bag and pad, and cooler from the basement to the garage. Loaded my gun bag and changed all of the batteries in the headlamps and hearing protection. I'll skip making food and just buy it;) Just 2 more days of work!!!

Its a great time of year, leaving Friday for Manistique Mi. and the UP's opener. Living room is full of gear ready to be packed. My 16ft'r and my puddler are ready for action. Decoys all touched up and ready. Floating a bunch of Hayden decoys, I hope he is looking down and seeing them out on the water where they belong. Good luck to all, keep your powder dry and enjoy the wonders the Lord will have in store for us.

Mark, Same story here. The funny one is Booker, he doesn't quite know what to do with himself. I'm not sure which evening I will stop by but will call you, don't worry about extra food. Am still looking for the Wildfowl mag, pretty sure it is around somewhere but if you saw my attic you would understand. I better get moving, looks like some weather coming.

I'm leaving at 12:00 tomorrow Tom and will do some scouting around Beardsley. don't know when I will get to the lodge but would exopect sometime around 5:00. Just in time for happy hour. Steaks that evening but I'm not bringing them. You are welcome to cook with us if you like but I don't know how many pounds of meat are being brought along.

Saturday I'm cooking jambalaya with some cajun appertizers beforehand. Cooking for 11 I believe. I won't know till tonight how much food I'll actually have as it is all cooking down right now. Accoring to the recipe, it say it serves 22 but they may not eat as much as 100 hungry hunters. I shoudl have enough for one more I would think.

Don't worry about the magazine. Ed K sent it via eamil.

Let me know your plans. You are always welcome.
