universal safety lanyard

I have a early 80's merc. 9.8 and it has just a push button kill switch. No safety lanyard I am looking for a I guess universal safety lanyard kill switch that will work with this older merc incase I end up in the drink. Anyone know who makes em or where I can get one for my merc 9.8 thanks

It's not hard, I've put several in to much older engines than you have. All of the wires are there, just remove the old one and replace it with a tether style.

If you're not real confident, consider taking it to a local outboard shop, they should be able to put one in
