I added an attached photograph, but it showed up as an attachment that has to be clicked. I re-edited the post and clicked "in-line", but I still did not get the photograph to show up on the post. In the past I really enjoyed looking at someone's post where they had the photographs right in the text. I would appreciate anyone who could help me. As I make significant progress, I want to share my work with other boat builders. (I will try again on this post, following the advice below. Hope I didn't do something foolish.)

Dave,

Read thru the instructions Eric has provided in the "help" section ( I pasted them below) It sounds like you have done everything up to and including step (e.) All you need to do is follow the rest of the steps to complete the process.

Uploading pics to the duckboats.net server

If you want to upload pics from your computer for everyone here to see then read on.
a. Browse to the image on your hard disk
b. If you want the pic visible in your post choose inline. Otherwise it will be a clickable link at the bottom of your post that opens in a new window when someone clicks it. Both are good.
c. Click Upload and wait for the pic to traverse the www from your computer to the duckboats.net server.
d. Repeat a-c if you have more than one pic.
e. If you did not choose inline that's all. If you chose inline read on.
f. Basic Editor - If you use the basic editor then place the markup tag [inline filename.jpg] wherever you'd like the pic to appear in your post. One for each image you uploaded. This tag works in the advanced editor too.
f. Advanced Editor - Click inside the text area to activate the toolbar. Put your cursor where you want the image and press the space bar to insert a blank space. Highlight the blank space with your mouse. Click the
image.gif
button and then choose inline. You will then see a list of every pic you uploaded. Choose them.
g. Complete your post and hit Preview Post.
h. If you are happy click Post Message, otherwise try again.

Thank you for the help. I just copied it to a reminder note. I really do want to share my design and progress because I know there are other amateur boat builders out there. My wife wife and adult sons just roll their eyes and remind me that I had said of the last boat that it was the last boat. They just don't get it.

Dave, I think Dave McCann covered the stuff you need but an alternative would be to open a Photobucket account or one of the other photo storage sites and take them off of there. I have done it both ways and find the Photobucket way to be easier if you have a lot of pics to post.
