Update from MO

Well we haven't had much luck on the ducks so far here in NW MO. I've hunted with my high school buddies Todd and Greg and their boys who all live here now, and Tim, who I've known since we were kids, came down from Iowa. We just haven't been where the ducks want to be. Weve shot a few but mostly let the kids take the few that have decoyed.

Here are a few photos:

We had just a couple problems with the boat mostly due to cold and freezing rain. The water separator froze so we bypassed that, and the electric choke solenoid iced up and froze, along with every lock on the boat and truck on Thursday morning. Oh, and the regulator for the propane stove had to be replaced.

I'll be hunting with Ira on Monday afternoon and Tuesday and I'm really looking forward to that.

Hitch,

Your right...the boat does blend well. Since you heading East across MO. There have been flight ducks on the move. Hopefully Ira and Marks little waterhole will pull them down before they hit the Black River in North East Arkansas for a few days.

It was good to see you Kyle, and I had a great time today and yesterday with you and the guys and the kids.

Hitch how does the weather look over in MO. I'm coming over to western tennessee fri to hunt for 3 days. I looked on the radar and it looks like some real good bad weather is settling in.

Had a blast hunting with you again Hitch, hopefully I'll get another chance on your way back south. Don't understand why the birds weren't moving, perfect weather for it .

Kyle

Well it's finally cleared off but not much wind.

We got into a few decoying birds yesterday at Four Rivers. It was slow and the Mallards weren't interested but the Gadwall were.

Shah had fun. We all had fun.

Hitch,

If you are thinking about coming north farther, the weather looks like it might lock up the river before the weekend - pool 9 and north anyway. Might stay open but they are calling for lows in the mid teens and highs below freezing. I am revising my schedule now and may make last minute decisions for the last weekend of the season.

Good luck and be safe.

Pete

Weather report for NW Missouri is calling for highs in the low 30's sat and sun with a high of around 28 for monday.

The end draws near Monday will be my last day for 2007 4 sure.

Looking forward to it! Last time Huntindave came to this side of the state he got stuck breaking ice! Hope he has a better time this go around.

I already put two boats away for the year. Haven't heard from my deer hunting partner which our second season ends this weekend. I'll probably be putting up the last boat Sunday. Then start laying out the Broadbill (finally) and getting it ready for warmer weather unless they have an epoxy that works in 50 degree temps. That's about as warm as I can get the basement in winter time.

Ed,

RAKA has an epoxy resin/hardener that works in temps down to 50 degress. I just bought some. You want the 610 Fast hardener.

Nate

Nate,

Thanks, I'll look that up. Even though it's called fast, when the temps are cooler will I have more time before it starts to setup verses using it in warmer months? Being a newbie I'd hate to mix, stand and ponder then find out a have a cup of hardrock candy!

I guess it depends on what you are doing. If you are just laminating or gluing up some wood, you should be in good shape. If you are wetting out and applying fiberglass, you will probably want to wait for warmer temps or do it inside and use a medium or slower hardener. I think you will get a little slower cure with colder temps but I am not sure on exact times. It should kick and start to set up quickly, but actual cure times will be longer in cooler temps.
