Update on Laura...

Why is this important?

Because Laura got to ring it about a week ago...

That is the signal that she has finished her last chemotherapy treatment. The first "ring" made one of the attendants nearly jump out of her skin - Laura let the world know that bell worked, and she hammered it one time for each treatment she took.

She will start radiation treatments at the end of the month, for 6 1/2 weeks. It isn't over, but we are celebrating every milestone! She has been going to work all through her treatments, with the exception of the first couple days after each chemo treatment; this is one tough, determined woman...and I am damned lucky.

It hasn't been easy, but she's had a better time of it than some of the horror stories other people have told her. Still have good days and bad days, I still find myself saying, "it's just not fair" every once in a while, but those are fewer and further between, and her ability to go through all of this has really inspired me.

Thanks to all of you who have asked, thought, prayed, and wondered about us. We're still here, and life is good.

Ricky,

That is a big step for both of you. Congratuloations. I know everyone here prays for the best for Laura and you. Please give her my best.

That's great Rick! Every day and every smile should be celebrated. Life is good...but not fair at all.

With continuing thoughts and prayers,
Chuck

Congrats Laura and Rick... My Mother went through the same program four years back and thank God, she's in great shape because of it... The best wives are the fighters... then again, it would be nice for us men to be right at least once in a while...

now go celebrate...A.

Great news Rick! Will keep laura in prayer as she continues with the radiation treatments.

James 1:12 God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

That my friend is GREAT NEWS. I'm so happy for both of you. Keep you head high and keep moving forward no matter what. Thinking and praying for you both.

Mary, Hank and Skeeter.

Congratulations. She's just around the corner from having a new name - N.E.D. (No Evidence of Disease).

Cancer sucks and we have the t-shirts.

This is my oldest who had Ewing's Sarcoma ringing the bell in radiology at Johns Hopkins when he finished his six weeks of radiation therapy last fall.

He finished his chemo four weeks ago and was declared NED two weeks ago. He had surgery yesterday to remove his port.

Not trying to steal your thunder but just point out there is hope and the tragedy of the oncology ward is not all pervasive.

We'll keep Laura in our prayers.
