It will be interesting to see how the hunting is in the Dakota's this year. Maybe later in the season with the migrations will be okay. I suspect early season will be pretty slim pickings.

If this continues into the fall it may lead to a good frost seal for potholes to catch runoff during the spring thaw. The improving conditions won't do much for this year's fall flight. May have helped with survival of late broods from renesting but breeding ducks were pretty sparse in the PPR during the breeding season. They mostly moved to wetter areas where productivity is lower.
From what I am seeing for stream flows and the color of grass and hay here in Central Maine, that map significantly understates how dry northern New England is right now.
Mid-Atlantic has had a wet year and we needed it. Good news further west.

Same with much of southern New England. I'm just outside of New Haven and we have had less than 1" of rain in two months in my exact location. I live on a dirt road and our vehicles looks like we just finished a 1,000 mile rally through the Sahara. Thank god I installed drip irrigation on the farm, but still throttling it back not to drain the well completely
