looking to get a new tank before the season . was looking at cabelas and bass pro all they offer is ventless fuel tanks. how in the world do these work when you squease the primer bulb? to me the bulb will collapse
The tank has to vent somehow but it may be "automatic" meaning you don't have to open a vent by hand. Not real sure that they should be called "ventless" unless they are a bladder that collapses as the fuel is used out and I haven't heard of those for sale. The primer bulb just fills the line, atmospheric pressure is what moves the fuel through the line. I am interested and will look at the Cabellas tanks. Good Luck
The vent is spring loaded in the top of the fill cap. It allows air to be sucked in but does not allow air to be pushed out when expanding. I have a new tank for the Honda jet and it will sit there in the sun while fishing a river and swell up. I have to remind myself to reach down and push the vent down to allow air to excape every hour or so. If you leave it connected to a motor for a day or two I would think that is could flood the carbs since the whole thing is under pressure.
I have a new 9 gal for my Yamaha 60. I pulled the rubber valve out of the cap with some needle nose pliers. It seems to have cured the "problem". My tank is pretty tight where it sits, if it expanded, I would have a hard time refueling.
