Ice, wind, waves, laughter, friendship, and decoys. All made the trip a great success. “If your heart be full, your game bag need not be”. Charlie Walker.

Right on! I miss shooting divers out from their strafing runs. I don't miss eating them so much though.

I used to skin them and wash them in honey and bake them in the oven. I'd cut them really thin to weed out the shot and dress the dogs kibble with it. They loved it.

I loved witnessing them working and taking part in a sacred union that only dogs with good men know.

Todd, your last sentence really struck a nerve. Two years ago I took up duck hunting and duck boat building for more days afield with my GWP, Berta. Naturally I wanted to give something back so I joined Ducks Unlimited here in Minnesota. My wife Heather and I thought it would be fun to attend the State Convention held each year in Alexandria MN. We were informed that we couldn't bring our dog to stay with us in the convention center hotel room. I found it quite troubling that an organization such as DU would book a venue for the State Convention at a non pet friendly facility when dogs are so I integral to our sport. I contacted the event planner for MN and was told an open bar was more important than having a dog friendly venue. I guess we'll be attending the Peasants Forever convention in Kansas City where dogs are welcome instead. This concludes my rant for the day! Richard
