Let's recognize and remember all the DHBP members and their family who served our great country over the years!
Here's to my dad, best father, mentor and role model a person could ever ask for.
Taught me his love of the outdoor. Was a better shot with a shotgun than I could dream to be.
RIP, Airman D.J. Ferraro Sr

My father in law who served in World War II as a 17 year old Aviation Boatswain Mate 3rd class. His stories of witnessing kamikaze attacks at Okinawa and the war in the Pacific were amazing.

My grandfather who served under Pershing in the field artillery in the Mexican Border War and WWI and retired as a Colonel and tried to enlist in WW II but had to serve as an Air Raid Warden. He was an amazing fly fisherman.

My nephew, who was recently commissioned as a second lieutenant US Army after getting his degree after working his way up from a private. Earned his drone pilot wings and jump badge as an enlisted man. He recently completed Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course and will be starting Ranger School soon. I am very proud of him, he is going places.

Edited to add my Uncle. He served in WW II from Normandy to the end including frostbite in the Battle of the Bulge. He was quite a goose hunter and introduced me to waterfowl hunting. I still take his shotguns out once a season in his memory.

Some amazing family history, thanks for sharing!

I did IOBC at Fort Benning back in 1990, I'm sure a few things have changed since then.
I had buddies who went through Ranger School, I wish your nephew good luck!

My father served as a Lieutenant in the Navy and the Pacific on the USS Vestal. I have had two patients whose uncles served on my father's ship. A small world. The USS Vestal was tethered to the Arizona at the bombing of Pearl Harbor. It's Captain was able to beach the ship which was then repaired and saw action throughout the remainder of the war. In fact it received a commendation for assisting the other ships out of Okinawa when the typhoon hit shortly after the Japanese signed the surrender. I still have the ship's Christmas menu. Some more excellent family history!
The USS Vestal had a long and quite incredible career. The combat ships get all the attention but ships like the USS Vestal kept the fleet afloat.
