Waterfowl Festival at Easton, MD

If you please, does anyone have experience with this event ... positive or otherwise? Even though November always is "prime time" here in Kansas, I've often thought the festival might be interesting. To be more specific, my four-year-old grandson lives inside the Beltway of DC, and I'd like to somehow kindle his interest in waterfowling before I actually can take him hunting our here on the Great Plains. I see they have some seemingly worthwhile activities for kids, but I'm somewhat skeptical as the festival is described as being intended for "sophisticated sportsmen." Thanks for your help!

Anyone who loves waterfowl, waterfowling, decoys & art, plus good food, should attend the Easton Waterfowl Festival at least once. It's not what it was years ago (a reflection of all shows), but still worth the trip. If it were not during Hunting Season, my feeling is many more out of state folks would attend. Every time I went I enjoyed myself. My 2 cents.

Steve,

I think you would find it worthwhile. Its a nice time to visit the Eastern Shore, as the weather is usually very nice then.

The Festival pretty much takes over the town of Easton and there are events /displays etc at various locations throughout town.

Make sure you check out the Buy, Sell Swap venue at the High School. Lots of old decoys, artwork, books, calls etc there.

You may find that you will have to commute from DC, as hotels in the Easton area are booked well in advance.

Have fun.

Matt

This festival is actually something the wives can enjoy. The variety of things to look at are numerous, the town is beautiful, the restaurants are superb and best of all my pal Larry Albright, owner of Albrights Gun Shop keeps his doors open to give us all a place to hang around and tell good Gunnin stories Rich
