Waterproof Jacket

Just getting back from hunting the last weekend in Arkansas. Saturday was an all morning rain which eventually soaked through my hunting coat. Any suggestions on something waterproof for the duck blind? Not looking for a lot of bulk, just something to keep me dry. I'm OK with layering to stay warm. Sure would be nice to be dry though.
Thanks.

If your just looking for uninsulated shell to go over other layers find something in gortex. Still best of the waterproof fabrics. I,ve had good luck with a rather cheap shell parka made by gamehide with no insulation. Called their decoy jacket and labeled as waterproof. On clearance I think at rogers now or possably simmons. Its not gortex but seems to keep me dry over other insulation.

I have used just about everything on the market. Just like everything else what kind of money do you want to spend. Wildfowl outfitters makes a good line of shell waterproof items. Cost is good and they are well made. I use some of their snow camo lines for hunting Snow geese. Never had a problem. Drake is great so are the item other people have talked about just cost more. Hope this helped

Thanks for the advice guys.

Will, I got a note back on the Stealth jacket. They no longer carry it and have no other camo product.

Bottom-line, if you want to stay dry buy commercial fishing gear. Grundens makes one of there jackets and bibs in camo, and that's what I use. Just buy it a size or two larger if you plan to layer up underneath. I have used Gore-Tex and waxed canvas products from all the makers just about and nothing compares to commercial fishing gear as far as keeping you dry, but remember this gear is made to keep you dry not warm.

Matt, is on to something here, exactly what I wear spend plenty of days afield that I would personally like to stay home for and "Grunden" type jacket and a pair of waders are the only thing that will keep you dry!

If some of those companies would make a wader I'd be all over it! People make fun of my "crab" gloves until their hands are soaking wet and frozen, and I give them a pair to bring their hands back to life...LOL

You can tell the 'real' waterfowlers at the ramps around here by the ones that are wearing commercial fishing gloves. Atlas 460s are the best.

$80 for under armor that leak after 2 uses and don't keep your hands warm or $16 for warm dry hands after 100 plus hunts? I'll take looking goofy with my giant orange gloves

That's a shame, was a great product despite being expensive

I wear waxed cotton most of the time but when it's a steady rain I wear a pullover Grundens. As Larry and Matt mentioned, 100% waterproof all day.

Speaking of gloves... I picked a pair of these up after our season ended... They have some fuzy liner in them. $20. I would be happy if they were warmer than the Atlas 660s I was wearing

Phil,

I had a pair of those before the Atlas gloves. Do your self a favor and order another pair of atlas from amazon. The dexterity of the Atlas gloves is FAR superior to that of the gloves you just bought especially when cold

Liquid rubber stuff in the spray can? we spray landing nets so the hooks don't dig in and the gloves we wear doing this get sprayed, it just might work for the purpose.
