Steve, I went out and climbed Old Rag today with approximately 100,000 of my closest friends. The NPS parking lot was completely full by 8:30 am according to the NPS ranger. The lady next door had opened her cattle gate and had over 300 cars at $10/each parked in her pasture. By noon the line at the entrance to the rock scramble making up the last 30 minutes of the climb was at least 45 minutes with at least 100 people waiting. The weather was in the low 50s with 15-20 mph winds with gusts to 30 mph. The leaf peepers and unprepared hikers packed the mountain today.
