Oh come on, it was a crap post no matter what you say about it. If you choose to post crap -- irrelevant crap that doesn't belong here, you will likely have people pipe up. If he wants to run away because people told him it was crap and irrelevant, so be it. He is a big boy and can make his own decisions on how he wants to participate on this site, but don't expect everyone to always blow unicorns and fairly dust up your crack when you sway from the core of the site. So lets all be good supporters and beg him back - some need it.
Derek, didja read the part where I said "their posts share something in common with other members.", meaning that if a post subject doesn't resonate in a positive way with a portion of the membership, maybe it isn't appropriate.
I don't have a dog in the race, I often don't don't make it through his more artsy posts, but I read most of what he posts and I sure don't have a grudge against him. Yes, he is a big boy, and did come back after the last time one of his posts were called crap. Hmmm, now who was it that did that?

Sure hope some guys who take it upon themselves to read a thread they admit isn't interesting to them, then slam the writer realize how bad they make themselves look.
This is killing me, it is now OK to post a Santa clause stories and conspiracy theories and we all bend over and say OK? Why, because a guy takes some neat pics and writes poetry here regularly - that doesn't justify a lame post to slip through. Posting regularly and scoring "i love you points" is not a credential to post on something that has ABSOLUTLY ZERO RELAVANCE to relative site themes. Nowhere in the decade or more that I have been on here have I seen it tolerated or not commented on. If people deemed "regulars" or "look at me's" keep up with this kind of stuff - the site degrades. It needs to be called out, it held no relevance, I don't care who posted it.
You got me, the poetry hasn't been my bag, but I never veiled my attempts to try and understand it or have it clarified. If you post, expect a response, or don't post. You may not always get the response you yearn for, but expect a response. Why anything in the questioning of the posts validity would make someone run from the site is a mystery to me. That should sum it up for my opinion on this matter.

I'd think that a topic with environmental and/or public health implications would be of interest to duck hunters (or any human for that matter.) If Todd wants to post it, he should realize some of what will be said and be man enough to deal with the implications. I'm alright with the discussion as long as it is kept civil. If you don't agree with what Todd posted...debunk it! You also have the right (within reason) to call names and post funny pictures poking fun, but in my opinion, that only make the heckler look like an @$$.
My biggest problem with the post was indeed something you pointed out...the misplaced 'e' in the title. If you want to come off as intelegent and pass on some knowledge I sure as heck would make sure my title had no typos...just saying.

In my memory (and I'm sure happy to be corrected if I'm wrong), the last substantive thread you began was well over a year ago, I don't remember a whole lot before that either. For someone who yearns to preserve the purity of the forum, you seem to do damn little to support it other than bitch (which there are plenty of examples of).
Second, something to think about.... The post by you I referenced above was about a hike in the mountains and featured geography and pictures of flowers. My relavance meter isn't as finely tuned as yours, but the content of that post makes me say.... hmmm? I'd quess that there are a whole lot of people that would consider a story about a nature walk looking at flowers not a whole lot different from a poem as far as site-specific content - just sayin'. To put a finer point on it, many of Todd's more artsy poetry posts still feature hunting material, be it boats, dogs or ducks.
What is clear is that we all have a vision about what the forum is. I've for sure been in my share of shit fights over what I think the forum is and I've stuck to my guns as you are doing. One thing that is really clear is that pissing and moaning about stuff doesn't work all that well and makes no real change. If you want to change content, the surefire way to do that is to step up on and provide that site appropriate content that you yearn for.

Amen Todd H and Tod O! This site needs to take a hiatus for about 5 months. I think we're all suffering detox symtoms from lack of duckhunting. What's the clinical term for this or are we (me included) just being an a-hole to our commrade Todd "Alfred Lord" Tennyson who is a great contributer to this site. I'm sorry for my comments as well Todd.

As the one who was pointing out the glaring errors in the video and was told I was programmed can this just get dropped? I posted twice and to say I was worked up on the second one would be an understatement but I walked away fairly politely. It isn't that big of a deal. There are lots of people who think the way Todd does, and if he wants to that's alright but you have to be able to take the criticism. If you don't rebut the idea the thread lives forever on the internet as proof others quietly agree. I did that and left. You aren't going to convince him this wasn't important but you might enlighten anothers who are seeing it for the first time.
Now it's over and I'm not seeing much for facts that would convince anyone.
NDR, that's always been fine. A little out there, fine. But really, does this deserve a 1000 hits?

Tim, I understand that you just want to see the thread done. You know everyone loves the drama.
If Todd actually wanted to learn about the issue, I'm sure our resident rocket scientist could put him in contact with someone who had good information. Based on his response to you, it it clear that he doesn't care to critically evaluate the issue and wants to think what he thinks.
On a side note, we did up a big batch of dandelion greens a couple nights ago. They were good enough, but I let Jen talk me out of the high fat version - they woudl have been better had we done it your way (and next time we will). We made sure to wash the greens really well to remove that contrail voodoo juice.

I don't have to justify a lack of posts knowing how much I interact regularly with members here means facilitated through this site and posts. Nobody here does. I know quite a few participants here that may 2-3 posts a year maximum and their absence doesn't place them in a pecking order of credibility/opinion.
The post you mentioned was the Sutter Buttes, located right in the heart of the Butte Sink, one of the west coasts best duck producing areas. I even had some references to the duck related subject in the post. The subject matter of things like geology and nature has long been a stable here, if you are making the reference that it is not, whoa we will have to slam a bunch more posts. Conspiracy theories, politics, and name calling has never been tolerated here without a public correction. Keeping things DHBP related in the nature of the site is something I have been pretty darn careful to do over all these years. Just to make amends, I promise to post up all kinds of pictures and projects, (all duck related) to build my credibility and frequency back up to approved levels.

Simple frequency has little to do with it. There is a point, however, where pissing and moaning about others' actions with minimal participation and especially contribution becomes obvious.
As far as there being stables here, I haven't seen them.
