Went out on the lake for a bit last night

I was so excited to get this shot of a loon. I know they are common in some areas, but I maybe see two a year on there migration to Canada.
They stop on the lake where I live to rest for a day or so every year.

Thanks for looking. The sun is going to be out today so maybe I can get out after my yard work.

I LOVE the shot of that loon!!! I grew up in MN and they were my wake up call every morning! I like the ringer too, I think they're perdy.

Hi Gary - One thing for sure, nothing "common" about those shots. I agree with Al.......exceptional light which makes your great stuff even better. I have been watching a couple of juvenile loons that winter here and the coloring is no where near what they become as adults..........if I didn't recognize the call, I would have thought they were a different bird. Not sure how long it takes them to get full color.
Beautiful images, thanks for posting !

Great photos as usual Gary - I like the shot of the ringer the best, great lighting on it. I noticed the first few flocks have returned up here this week, was great to see them again. Though I always have a soft spot for buffies!
