Went to Green Bay this weekend

And hunted with Pete McMiller, Mike Trudel and Eric i can't remember the last name. Pete and I were going to make history with our little 28 ga. autos and show a bunch of divers taken with them...we sure could have if I could have hit my ass with both hands..my reloads didn't do so good but Pete's did..but he didn't have as many opportunities as I did. We were supposed to meet a couple page guys in Green Bay for supper Saturday night but they wimped out and left just before we got there..I won't say their names but their initials are A..ndrew H...olly and E..ric D..elemeter. We had an interesting dinner there that turned into a real PITA which will remain enough of that story. It was cool hunting the new place and seeing some new country..if you can call the area from Chicago to GB "country"....it was like I never left a city. As I was driving up there, I saw a wierd animal in a field..a camel..I thought "wtf?" and as I looked the field over there were Buffalo, longhorn steer,beefalo and some other exotic beasts that I couldn't ID at 80mph (sorry Officer Staudacher, but I was STILL in peoples way).
 
28 ga. that's downright sporty!!

I hear you on the Chicago speedways. I've never seen more people doing 90+ mph in unison in my entire life. Wanted to check out the new Cabela's just west of the City, but was too afraid to slow down enough to exit Int.90.

I saw the sign for it but it was just a glance. Pete said he heard the most popular accident on the expressways were roll overs. I can see where that is true. One car went by me like he stole it doing 6 lane passes with just enough room (once the people he cut off slammed the brakes on. I saw a red camaro or firebird in the ditch that looked like it rolled. It seemed the more expensive car...the crazier they drove!
 
My dad and I have driven through Chicago at least a Dz. times. We've started using 294 and 290 to get around the city. Not that it's safer, but it's better than Int 90 downtown. Don't think that going through at off peak hours helps either. We got stuck in a back up last October on 90 for 2 hours trying to get through downtown....AT 2AM!!!

You must have some different time schedule over in Michigan. Here in Wisconsin, when we say we are going to be somewhere at a certain, we are there. We don't call restaurant, ask to speak with the guys waiting on us and say we just got off the water and are going to be an hour and a half late. To me that is just plain rude and inconsiderate. I personally had a long day of hunting, left in time to make it back to Green Bay, shower and get ready and be on time for what I thought was going to be fun night getting to meet some people from the board. I was more than ready to lend my time and equipment if you guys needed anything and even show you my "secret" spots if you weren't getting any birds. I was disappointed to say the least.

Furthermore, who picked that restaurant? I never heard of that place before and won't be going back. Had to be the only gay restaurant in Green Bay. Six to eight burly duck hunters meeting at a place call the Big Tomato? The nightly special was tofu. Real men eat steak. Real men don't pay $7 for a beer (more than once).

I was willing to walk away from this and blow it off, but to call me out in the open forum, just adds insult to injury.

Seddledonnaw!....I didn't even know we were planning on meeting you guys till I got there.About 2:30 I asked Pete via walkie talkie from the layout boat when we were supposed to go..he said Mike set it all up and had to run his boat across the bay to ask him. After eating at that place I forgive you calling me rude and inconsiderate...I was just along for the ride and I was the ONLY one from Michigan...which is an hour later time wise from Wi.

Speaking of highway speeds, I was heading out of a little town west of Milwaukee named Heartland, WI one morning after visiting my parents while on a job interview trip. I was heading into Milwaukee and I was running about 73mph which was well over the speed limit but I was being passed by people going just shy of the sound barrier and getting dirty looks. I was pulled over by a super trooper and it was suggested that if I was able that I should pick up the pace. I was obstructing traffic and could cause an accident. True story. That was 1982 and I haven't been that way since. Traffic was unbelievable then and I can't even imagine what it's like today.

I believe it. 65 was posted almost everywhere and I set the cruise on 72....everyone passed me, even semi trucks.
 
Drove back from the UP yesterday, I live near Chicago. The traffic was unreal between Green Bay and Milwaukee. 80mph was pretty much the norm I stayed at 65, the Wi. troopers just love us boys from Illinois. Of course the construction on 294 at the border was a lot of fun too! And towing a boat makes it a real challenge as a lot of you know, at those speeds and all the crazies in a hurry to go no where. Of course you would think I would get used to it working and living around Chicago but it still amazes me at all the nuts on the road!

I was looking forward to diner with all of you but to call us at the restaurant and tell us that you are still hunting and to sit around all night waiting for you?!?!?

We made the effort to be there on time...you call it what you want, Andrew and I know the truth.

For you to try and say anything here or in private is just plain wrong.

OK...F**k me and the horse I rode in on. I apologise all over the place for what happened and in my original post it was meant tongue in cheek. I felt bad that the event didn't happen and you guys were inconvenienced. Even though I didn't know what was going on, if you want to be mad at me, I'm fine with it. I hope we CAN get together sometime somewhere,someday. I definetely won't say anything in private...no need..I know how you feel.

No hard feelings, as I said, I was looking forward to meeting all of you and maybe someday it will happen. Guess it struck a nerve and the damn internet never allows humor to come through the best sometimes.

Sorry Lee for blasting you, sounds like you were just a third party.

The puntual thing is a big issue with me, then sitting in that place was icing on the cake.

Next time your up, dinner is on me, as long as I get to pick the place.

What's the matter Paul?.....Haven't bombed anyone or taken pics of reactors or missile sites lately? Life a little boring? I agree, the new site kinda qualshes good ol' knockdowns anymore.
