ll last for ever if you take care of them and handle them right. The necks go first, Because when guys pick them up they don't do it by the base. The neck makes a convenint handle. Its the rain that kills them. I leave them out in the pit from opening day till close. I cover the stool with a tarp inside the pit that helps a lot. I try not to hunt a pit that I have stuffers in the rain and go to a box that I have plastic, but sometimes you have to go to field that the birds are living in and that takes its toll. I would say the average bird last about 5-6 years. Even when the neck goes you can still use them. I just make sure the bird is facing into the wind. This season I was only able to make 62 down from the 131 of the year before. For the off season they are on shelves and hanging from the rafters in my basement
