What boat to buy ?

With my physical infirmaties and realization that to build a boat that I'm gonna have to build a new shed first, I have about decided that buying a BBSB is gonna be the only way I'm gonna get one before I'm too old to use it. I think I want a Devlin or perhaps a Bankes boat. I have a brand new 15 hp Yamadog that I want to use and not have to buy another one. I'm going to get a black lab soon and will eventually being hunting with dog, decoys and a buddy.

With these parameters in mind what type boat should I try to find ? I'm able to drive a fairly long distance to see one. Biggees are being able to use the 15hp, Safety and comfort.

Lot of questions I know.

Best and thanks,

Harry

That is a pretty big load for a 15hp motor. The one Devlin boat that i can think of that could pull it off would be a Bluebill. You'll have to pack light and hope you partner isn't a big fella. Marty of http://www.whiskeyriverboatshop.com/ builds nice boats for Sam on this side of the country. I just went to his website and it looks like he is no longer maintaining it but you might be able to track him down. The last # I had for him was (517) 686-4314.

You might also check out Brad Taylor with Toller Boat Works. He builds a sneak box along the same design as the Gator Boats and he is in your neck of the woods.

Thanks Eric,
You are right of course and i'll probably have to morph the 15 into a 25 hp. Since the heart attack i'll be getting an electric start version to save wear and tear on me.
Thanks again,
Harry

Thanks Joe,
I'll surely look into that and any other stress reliever that seems practicable. One big stress reliever for me is to realize that I'll never have a boat that is perfect for every situation I might want to put myself in.

Best,
Harry

sooner or later im buying a Duckwaters boat 18ft or there abouts...i plan to hunt the ocean and shalow bays with it..and the rocky shoals on our coast line..chasin eiders cock a wee and ge`s and anything else on the menu..

Harry, Shermie probably won't see this so.....a "cock-o-wee" is an Old Squaw (longtail for the politically correct).

Cock a wee is a longtail/ oldsquaw named after its call i imagine dont know how far this name is used ,ive only heard it along the eastern shore of Nova Scotia,

Thanks Lee i slept till 2pm then went crowing with daisy till dark . back on backshift again ....
