What did folks do with the sailing rig?

What did hunters do with the mast and sailing rig from their sneakboats back in the day? I asume they took the mast down. Was the mast and boom short enough to stow in the boat, or was it ditched on the meadow for hunting and then re-rigged when heading home. Just curious.

The mast and boom were short and easily fit inside the boat. I had a Sam Hunt sailer for years and everything stowed inside nicely. Bob Hayden

What if a guy dyed his sail olive drab or some other camo color? You could use it to partially hide the boat, or at leat it wouldn't stick out so white just lying on shore next to the boat. That is a very cool looking rig btw.

Most Sprit rigs could stow below deck as each stick was about 9' long, otherwise they were lashed on the side deck.My Melonseed mast and sprits are 10' long, the sail is attached to the mast, and is just rolled up on same. They easily stow below deck,as the cockpit is longer than would normally be found on a Sneakbox.
