what do think about a mojo

I think if you don't have one and the guy across the lake does you better make friends with him real fast or find another lake!

That has definately not been my experience.

I think they are a crutch for newer hunters that don't take the time to do everything else right. Do they work, have no clue, never owned or thought about getting one. Never hunted over one and wouldn't as I would probably be tempted to shoot the thing. As far as buffies, I don't shoot them either but have had enough in my decoys to know they aren't difficult to decoy and that is without Bufflehead decoys, which from what I understand they prefer. So if your seeing them but they won't work your bufflehead decoys your not in the right spot.

I like to think of myself as traditional, but there are some modern conveniences I'm not giving up. You can take my plastic canoe, plastic decoys, Hi-tech enamel spray paint, and my semi-auto shot gun. The outboard, too. And the 3 1/2 inch shells.

But I'm keeping my polypro long johns, fleece pants and jacket, and goretex waders and coat. Not a really big fan of the old style kapok life jackets, either--modern closed cell foam does nicely.

The first year we had one when nobody else did, and it was the most incredible thing I have ever seen. The next year everyone had one. You'd occasionally see a 'battery' duck, but as often as not ducks would hook but not finish. When arkie outlawed them i was relived, it was one less thing to fool with, and if nobody had one, then the bleacher seats went back to being bleacher seats, and the good spots killed birds like they always had. When arkie backed off it, and allowed them, welp, there ya go. Like most things duck related, rarely does something work every single day. So they are a varible like everything else... but when ducks are 'frantic' trying to feed before a freeze, or after a thaw, they are still deadly. 75% of the time they arent anything but trouble. But that 25% of the time, the shot is over the top of the dang thing....

Tradtion means different to a lot of differnet people. I think its more in your hart and your actions than your equipement personally. Given my druthers, they'd go back to being outlawed, so we could have something to gripe about (dude was right above about it being a great thing to aruge about, and thats as duck hunting tradation is there is!). travis

Used 2 in the spread last week on Saturday. Was a heavy fog and the birds decoyed. On the other hand I separated the spread 25 cork and 24 plastic. The birds stooled to the cork. Used them on Sunday same set up. Birds would NOT stool. Took out the mojo, the corks worked like a charm. Had a great hunt to boot....John

Agreed that sometimes they don't work. one thing is for certain you can see those wings flashing from a LONG ways. Even when you can't see the decoys on the water. If everyone around you has one (or two) you have to think long and hard about going without. I have a remore controled unit. One thing I've learned is that if you turn that thing on when the ducks are in close they'll flair.

Robo ducks are are an abomination. I think everyone has a line in the sand they choose not to cross...for me it is robo ducks, inline muzzleloaders and compound bows.

Pete,
I second this sentiment. Mojos are a crutch that take the place of truly understanding and relying on your own ability to waterfowl hunt.

Another thought. Has anyone ever heard back from the Don. He starts a lot of very simple threads, but I have looked and found no responses from him. Does anyone know him personally. I get the feeling he's a joker or just rude. Who doesn't even say thanks after asking for advice?

Frank

I noticed that as well.
I'm beginning to think he was/is trying to get the minimum number of posts to put up an add on the classifieds. Just a theory.

I did get a pm from him thanking me. I'm thinking troll. If he isn't I wish he'd give us reason not to think that.

Tim

Well, I'll reserve judgement then. Come on Donald, be little more interactive!
