What ever happen to an old time poster

I can't. Recall his name but remember he was a very active poster. Lived out in Oregon I believe. We watched and followed along as he moved from one place to the next. Watched him dig out a duck slough on his property and saw many collector guns he had at one time or another. I can't recall his name and wonder whatever happened to him. I believe I recall he had a stroke.

For some reason I thought of him this evening.

The other day when reading a post here I also wondered about Gary and how he is doing. Might shoot him a PM.
Yeah, Dave Parks has not been on in quite some time. I sold him some traps years back, right before he dropped off the site.

As others have said, I think you are referring to Dave Parks. Quite a character on here and in person (he was in on our Old Farts Hunt in the fall of 2005). Last post I could find was on Aug 18, 2008. It appeared he was getting ready to put up a new house on the part of his property he didn't sell. Then rumor had it that he moved to Montana but I don't think that was ever confirmed or if he did it was just seasonal. I think Sutton had contact with Dave for a while.

The last I heard about Dave was he was doing well in Montana according to a post from Howard but that was some years ago now. Howard was building a few boats. His web site was www.hollandpointmarine.net but it's no longer active so what ever happened to Howard as well?

Looked it up. The last post I see was from Joe O. indicating Dave was alright but that was 2009. That was a long time ago. Lots of members come and gone since then.

He was eaten by the same bear that got Mary Stouffer.

Didn't you guys know, Dave's life was the basis for the character portrayed by Brad Pitt in Legends of the fall...

Gary March is alive and well just not hunting much anymore and for a time wasn't even doing much with a camera......as he puts it ALOT of life changes and those determined where he spent his time....when River, (his first AWS), passed, he pretty much stopped hunting selling his Estuary to Fred Slyfield. it now resides in the capable hands of Zack Houvener who still posts here......Debby and I stopped and had lunch with Gary when we went through Spokane back in Sept on the way to Florida.....he's getting close to retiring and looking forward to it.....and the BEST NEWs is he's getting back into hunting and photography.....plus he currently has two Water Spaniels..(though I can't recall if they are of the Irish or American variety).......

I wish I could say I knew what happened with Dave.....he was "there" one time and then seemingly the next he was "gone".......if he ever moved to Montana I never heard of it and that was rumored to have happened back when I was still in touch with him....I know that Judy and he are still show as owners of the property in the Applegate Valley so my thoughts are that they never made the move....

The last time I talked to Judy, (in the last year or so that we still were in contact Judy was by far easier to get ahold of), Dave was doing well, (this would have been a couple of years after the OLD FARTS HUNT), but then suddenly both of the phone numbers that I had for Judy and Dave no longer worked and I could locate no news ones......I had retired by that point and was no longer traveling to that part of Oregon and I'm sad to say we lost all contact.....I think about them often and this Spring if a planned trip to Turkey Hunt with a good friend who lives in that area does happen I plan on dropping by the property to see if they are still there.....been too long and I can only hope that the reason for the loss of Dave on the page is one of a change in where he was spending his time and not something more ominous.....

As the years pass I've always feared the worse because I know Dave deeply enjoyed the relationships he had with the people on the site and can't imagine those just shuttin off like a thrown switch......I continue to hope for a more positive outcome.......

I want to say that the last contact I had with Howard (Montjoy) was in early spring of 2012.

He stopped by my house for a visit while back to see relations in the Troy, OH area. At that time he was retired, and had been doing the Holland Point boats in retirement. His wife Sandy had passed away a few months prior to that visit

He'd related an incident where someone had modified one of his sneak boxes with an add-on blind that made the boat very unstable... and the guy capsized it in a blow, and lost his life. That shook Howard up quite a bit, even though it wasn't the fault of the boat as he designed & built it. He left one of his bufflehead decoys with me; still have it.

Thanks for the update. Give Gary our regards if you correspond with him.

Kinda strange situation with Dave Parks, he was so active for so long.

Thanks for the updates! Dave Parks was an interesting character, I really enjoyed following his exploits. Gary March too.

I miss Dave's impassioned replies to a variety of topics in addition to the chuckles I got every time he called me by someone else's name. Haven't heard a peep from him either but I hope he's doing well.

I heard back from Gary. He reports that he is doing well just been busy with other things.
